In which I encounter the values of Freedom

Dear Bastion,
Before you congratulate yourself too much on your brave slaughter of
Eleusis's guards, I think the world deserves to know the tale of the
only defender.
Quite surprised was I to find a large group of Mhaldorian and Ashtani
dragons barring my path on the Oaken Way. Finding myself the only
Eleusian combatant around, I eventually made them an offer: a duel
against any of their combatants, my life in exchange for the rest of the
Village.
I was first ignored, and then slain by the group as a whole who then
continued their slaughter.
Even more surprising, I was told by one of the Ashtani raiders that this
was an order from the Overseer, who was himself nowhere to be seen. Said
raider told me that his personal preferences were immaterial. He was
merely following orders.
Sapience, I present to you the great "City of Freedom!"
It's a shame to see skilled and honourable combatants reduced to this by
the command of their curiously-absent leader. Lions led by donkeys,
indeed.
With warmest regards,
Favonius Stormcrow-Xanatov, Eleusian
