For many long years, the City of Hashan has taken a stance of inaction,
supporting neither offensive nor defensive assistance towards the
various city-states and their Icons. We stood at the outskirts of the
battlefields as they took to arms for their own causes, hoping that such
trouble will not arrive on the doorsteps of the Crown. But neutrality
and inaction are not synonymous, and it is time that the Crown once
again stood proudly in defence of its beliefs.

I now address this post to you, Shallam.

We have tired of your assaults. We have tolerated the tools you have
used to assail us for too long, felt the pain of their utilization for
too long and see now, in full clarity, that you stand as anathema to the
Crown.

You put a library of the Crown to the torch, destroying a valued source
of knowledge and learning.

You withheld the arts of Devotion from our citizens, ruthlessly
excommunicating those whose only offence was to join a city who welcomed
them equally.

You loosed the forces of the Qashar unto our streets, and then stood
aside to watch in contentment, as this city of unrepentant heretics
fought and endured against the brutal onslaught.

We awaited amends for these transgressions, for these policies to be
disavowed and revoked, yet we have observed only the continuation of
poorly-veiled attempts of the Jewel to claim us as an adjunct to your
agendas and under your banner.

Henceforth, no Hashani will aid in the defence of Shallam or its
property. No Hashani will join an assault that contains even a single
member of the Jewel.

It is clear that our ideologies lead us in different paths. To attempt
to force us to believe otherwise is a folly that you would do well to
recant.
