[What follows purports to be an eyewitness account of a recent meeting
of Eastern leadership.]

Caliph Jovaras Wyntersol, Immaterial Magi says, "Your will, Lord and
Ladies?"

Lorielan, the Enlightened says, "Let those who put their faith in the
word and will of this man over Ours go now, and not look back. Shallam
has no place for citizens who have no loyalty or devotion."

Silas utters a deep, rumbling laugh.

Raydon leaves to the south.

Caliph Jovaras Wyntersol, Immaterial Magi says, "If no one else shall
speak then I shall."

Khaz says in a cold, calm voice, "My Lady, our devotion and loyalty to
the city has always been unwavering. However, we fear that the Gods and
Goddesses we serve no longer care about the opinions and well being of
Their servants."

Caliph Jovaras Wyntersol, Immaterial Magi says, "My Lady Mithraea. When
I entered your order you asked me a question as to how I lead Shallam.
You asked me how I treat the citizens of Shallam as Caliph divinely
appointed to lead and guide them."

Caliph Jovaras Wyntersol, Immaterial Magi says, "I responded with my
full heart as a servant. Understanding that I served at their whim as
well as Yours."

Mithraea, Goddess of the Sun says, "Khaz, the Te'Serra always act in the
interest of Shallam and the Creation that We have charged it to
protect."

"Heh heh heh," Silas chuckles.

Mithraea, Goddess of the Sun says, "What is Our will is what is best for
the Jewel. What is Our will is what is best for Creation. That is what
it means to be Shallamese."

Mithraea, Goddess of the Sun says, "That is what it means, Khaz, to
serve the Te'Serra."

Pentharian, God of Valour says, "Those who depart have only Our scorn
and disappointment. Those who remain but think themselves higher than Us
shall have Our wrath."

Caliph Jovaras Wyntersol, Immaterial Magi says, "Then my Lord and
Ladies. Your servant Jovaras will humbly leave. I am sorry to have
caused you trouble."

Mithraea, Goddess of the Sun says, "But, citizens, know that the
Te'Serra are always listening to Our servants. It is Our way to consider
the interests of those who serve Us."

Caliph Jovaras Wyntersol, Immaterial Magi says to Mithraea, "I
understand and accept the due consequnces of my actions."

Silas says, "This is what you're all sworn to, Shallam. You're asked to
follow Them because They say so. I was asked to lie because They said
so, and when I refused I was removed from the Church."

Mithraea, Goddess of the Sun says, "Children of Mine, it is you all who
bring to fruition the labours of Creation. It is you who We have tasked
to protect that which We love and give to you in good faith."

Sir Avto Del-Amroth says to Mithraea, "I can't see where we were
listened?"

Silas says, "How is any of this Good?"

Pentharian, God of Valour says, "You were asked to apologise, Silas, for
rude and ill behaviour."

Pentharian, God of Valour says, "Something you have never, ever done."

Jovaras's eyes gleam with generosity.

Jovaras removes the mantle of the Caliph.

Silas says, "That's patently untrue."

Jovaras gives the mantle of the Caliph to Pentharian.

Jovaras rubs his hands together greedily.

Silas says, "But I wasn't just asked to apologise, I was asked to give a
false and insincere apology."

Khaz bows respectfully to Jovaras.

Draekar inclines his head politely at Jovaras.

Tarvitz gives Jovaras a respectful salute.

Silas says, "How is that not being asked to lie?"

Khaz says to Jovaras in a cold, calm voice, "It was an honour to serve,
Jovaras."

Pentharian, God of Valour says, "You were asked, in the presence of a
Goddess, BY that Goddess, to apologise for your actions. You refused."

Mephaos says to Jovaras in a deep, earthen voice, "I am very sorry t see
you go, my friend."

Sir Asta'rte Aximand Dawyn-Calaier, Knight Commander says to Jovaras,
"Thank you for everything you've done."

Lord Templar Draekar Rian, Phaestean Knight says to Jovaras, "Likewise,
It was an honour to serve you."

Grandmaster Rystal Seir, Sentaari Storyteller says to Jovaras, "You are
still one of my closest friends.. I regret to not work with you longer."

Silas says to Pentharian, "I was told, and I quote: "You shall give the
Sentaari your apology. It may be clear to all involved that you will not
be sincere, but your sincerity is less important than your willingness
to acknowledge that you must sacrifice your arrogance to keep your
allies.""

Silas says, "I was asked to lie."

Draekar nods his head at Silas.

Silas says, "I have never once refused to apologise where an apology is
due."

Shanshan says to Silas with a mild Aeraithian accent, "For shame! Do you
not know Who you are talking to?"

Pentharian, God of Valour says, "And you have claimed every time when
asked that no apology was due."

Silas says, "My apology to Lorielan Herself is on the public boards for
all to see."

Silas says, "So no, I have not."

Silas says, "Honestly, you can say what you will. This is not Good."

Pentharian, God of Valour says, "WE are Good, Silas."

Silas says, "I refuse to accept any longer that it is Good because you
say it is."

Mithraea, Goddess of the Sun says, "There is no Good but the Te'Serra."

Silas says, "Then gods help us all."

Pentharian, God of Valour says, "Then you are as misguided as Quoren."

Pentharian, God of Valour says, "As you have always been."

Silas rolls his eyes.

Sir Avto Del-Amroth says, "Are we all?"

Pentharian, God of Valour says, "Any who deny what My Sister has just
said, yes."

Silas says, "You cast away your most loyal, hard-working servants and
you blame me for causing rifts in Shallam."

Silas says, "What nonsense."

Sir Avto Del-Amroth asks, "Then where it is that you listen to us?"

Lady Vivienne Concordia says, "It is true we are bleeding many of our
best people."

Balancing on the rim of the world, Lady Sol prepares to enter her daily
slumber. The shadows grow long as the daylight wanes.

Silas says, "You have done far, far more against the Light than any of
our enemies."

Pentharian, God of Valour says, "We cast out those who profess over and
over to be Our most loyal."

Mithraea, Goddess of the Sun says, "Silas, spare Us your dramatics. All
of Sapience has seen this act before."

Pentharian, God of Valour says, "And then refuse to do Our bidding."

Silas utters a deep, rumbling laugh.

Silas says, "If it's an act, Mithraea, tell me which parts are untrue."

Lorielan, the Enlightened says, "You have never been a loyal servant to
anything but your own ego, Silas."

Silas says, "Nonsense."

Mithraea, Goddess of the Sun says, "You will treat with the Gods with
respect, Silas, or I shall strike you down. I shall have no compunction
about relieving you of your life."

The Lady Sol points the Sceptre of the Sun at Silas and a bolt of
primeval fire erupts from it, landing between his feet as a warning.

Khaz says in a cold, calm voice, "I beg to differ, Lady Lorielan."

Khaz says in a cold, calm voice, "Silas has long been a steady defender
of the Light and a true example to the Church and City."

Areigna gives a pained sigh.

Silas says, "Then, with respect, tell me which parts are untrue, Lady
Sol."

Lady Vivienne Concordia says, "Frankly, I don't like Silas at all. I
find him rude and arrogant, yet as a Church member he is hard working.
Even if there is more than a little ego in there he has been a benefit
to the Church."

Lady Vivienne Concordia says, "As was Quoren."

With a flourish of his arm, Jovaras bows deeply.

Caliph Jovaras Wyntersol, Immaterial Magi says, "If that will be all I
guess I'll depart."

Qashari Catechist, Naix says, "With all due respect, Lord and Ladies.
Silas has done more for Shallam and Good than most people in this room,
the only thing he had done 'wrong' was not doing what You wanted... if
one is only Good if one does what You dictate, then what difference is
that from Oppression?"

Mephaos closes his eyes and bows his head.

Mithraea, Goddess of the Sun says, "To serve the Te'Serra is to serve
Good, Naix. Silas did not serve My Sister in Her command and, in that,
he failed to serve the Te'Serra. To serve Us is to do Good."

Silas utters a deep, rumbling laugh.

Tarvitz looks up into the air for divine inspiration.

Areigna blinks.

Silas says, "Welcome to new Mhaldor, ladies and gentlemen."

Pentharian raises His fists above His head. Concentrating briefly, He
causes rippling blue fire to flow from the heavens above into a ball of
energy between His upraised fists. Scornfully, He throws His fists
forward, sending a beam of crackling energy to incinerate Silas.
You hear a high-pitched screaming noise and instantly, a bolt of blue,
crackling energy strikes Silas. His body arches as his mouth opens in a
noiseless scream. Blue fire erupts out of his eye sockets and mouth and
his charred body crumples to the ground.
Silas has been slain by Pentharian.

Khaz creases his brow in a frown.

Pentharian, God of Valour says, "I am tired of your petty demagoguery."

The soul of Silas says, "And still You haven't told me how I'm wrong."

The soul of Silas says, "Other than because You say I am."

Qashari Catechist, Naix says, "I am sorry then, for I do not see a
difference between this and Oppression... I will take my leave and
withdraw my aid."

Pentharian, God of Valour says, "This is exactly the same circular
drivel you spewed the last time you were removed for your insolent
pride."

Khaz says in a cold, calm voice, "Lord and Ladies, we will serve Good,
but not at the cost of our own values and especially not at the cost of
our own people."

Pentharian, God of Valour says, "You do not serve Good if you do not
serve the Te'Serra."

The soul of Silas says, "You can strike me down as many times as it will
take to satisfy you, but until you can truly deny the truth of my words,
I fail to see why anybody should follow you or accept that you are
Good."

Khaz says in a cold, calm voice, "Then it appears this dragon can no
longer serve, Lord Pentharian."

Seeing his situation to be hopeless, Silas begins uttering fervent
prayers for salvation.

Pentharian, God of Valour says, "A disappointing time when so many who
are sworn to Us desert their Oaths."

Lady Areigna Rian says, "If serving the Te'Serra means forgetting who I
am and what I believe in to mindlessly obey orders then I can no longer
serve."

Sir Avto Del-Amroth says to Pentharian, "Better half is leaving you,
Lord Pentharian."

Khaz says in a cold, calm voice, "I don't desert my Oaths."

Khaz says in a cold, calm voice, "I don't desert."

Pentharian, God of Valour says, "Your oath is to Good."

Pentharian, God of Valour says, "The Te'Serra is Good."

Lorielan, the Enlightened says, "We are what you believe in, Lady. If
you have lost sight of that, there is no welcome for you here."

Khaz says in a cold, calm voice, "My Oath is to defend the Good and
Light. I will do what I feel is best to do so."

Lady Vivienne Concordia says, "My oath is to Good, and it will not be
forsaken, no, yet I grieve for the amount of good people we are losing."

Mephaos says in a deep, earthen voice, "My Oath has, and always has,
been to Good, Lords and Ladies."

Eschilde looks confused and says tentatively in a clear, guileless
voice, "Um, excuse me, my Lords, my Ladies, am I to understand that it
is only for the Te'Serra to dictate what is Good?"

Adonay, riding an ebony pegasus, arrives from the south.

Lorielan, the Enlightened says, "It is."

Mithraea, Goddess of the Sun says, "You think that We have not seen this
before, perhapas."

Lady Areigna Rian says, "With all due respect, Lords and Ladies, I have
ever stood silent and done as I was told. I can no longer do so, not if
it means I cannot be who I am. Silas is a good example of that, I
think."

Mithraea, Goddess of the Sun says, "We have seen those who believe they
know Good better than We do. They do not. They never do."

Bahtell says in a soft and raspy voice, "These are the same Lords and
Ladies that have taught us all what Good is! And yet the student
declares that they understand Good better than these? Foolishness!"

Sir Avto Del-Amroth says, "This is madness... I hope this is repeat of
history and Decanter and Slith coming back up... I really hope so..."

Vivienne ponders the situation.

Mithraea, Goddess of the Sun says, "Those who will continue in Our
service shall receive Our love and care. Those who do not wish to serve
Good are relieved from their posts."

The Dragon Silas thunders in from the north.

A cool breeze wafts by, stirring the air around you and quickly building
to a dangerously swirling tornado. The cone of dust overtakes Silas,
lifting him into the sky and out of sight.

Kailo says with a dwarven accent, "Pride is a sin- and one that is ripe
with folly. To claim to know Good more than the Gods of Good is to
display this sin for the world to see."

Grandmaster Rystal Seir, Sentaari Storyteller says, "I am here. I will
do what I can, command me the direction I am required."

Pentharian, God of Valour says, "Wise words, Kailo. Your faith is strong
and well-placed."

Sir Avto Del-Amroth asks Kailo, "How is pride more sin then a lie?"

Shanshan says to Mithraea with a mild Aeraithian accent, "We stand ready
to serve You, Mother."

Kailo says to Avto with a dwarven accent, "There was no lie."

Shanshan kneels onto one knee, demonstrating her humility and respect.

Lorielan, the Enlightened says, "You have your choices to make. We hope
you will make the right one, but it must be made with a clear heart."

Sir Avto Del-Amroth says to Kailo, "It was a lie."

Nadiel nods her head emphatically.

Nadiel kneels onto one knee, demonstrating her humility and respect.

Mephaos says in a deep, earthen voice, "I remain, as do my Oaths, Lords
and Ladies. I am proud to serve Good."

Sir Avto Del-Amroth says to Kailo, "I heard it myself."

Kailo says to Avto with a dwarven accent, "As did I."

Grandmaster Rystal Seir, Sentaari Storyteller says, "I was there."

Grandmaster Rystal Seir, Sentaari Storyteller says, "It was not a lie."

Mithraea, Goddess of the Sun says, "There are those here who are truly
loyal. Those who are not do not bear Our love and should not continue in
Our service."

Sir Avto Del-Amroth says, "Being untrue to yourself is equivalent of
lie."

Areigna says, "Indeed."

Mephaos says in a deep, earthen voice, "I agree with what my Father
said. Stride invades us this day."

Kailo says to Avto with a dwarven accent, "An enemy of a House of the
Light should not be allowed to lead the army of the Light."

Khaz says in a cold, calm voice, "It appears I have some thinking to
do."

The great form of Khaz grows still and his eyes glaze over as the world
blurs and then sharpens.

Mithraea, Goddess of the Sun says, "Those who will commit themselves to
Creation, to Good and to the Te'Serra shall be rewarded, as always, in
their endeavours. There is always a place for good servants in the
service of the Te'Serra."

With a flap of his majestic silver wings, Khaz enters a tear in the
fabric of reality, and is gone.

Mephaos nods his head at Mithraea.

Mephaos says to Mithraea in a deep, earthen voice, "Indeed, Lady Sol."

Mithraea, Goddess of the Sun says, "But those who are persuaded by the
pride and arrogance of ones such as Silas have no place in Our service
and will find their service rendered useless wherever they may go."

Shanshan stands up and stretches her arms out wide.

Mithraea, Goddess of the Sun says, "For those who are blinded by
arrogance, by self-importance and by a sense of entitlement are not
welcome within any community."

Areigna shakes her head sadly from side to side.

Areigna says, "Be well, all of you."
Areigna leaves to the north.

Grandmaster Rystal Seir, Sentaari Storyteller says, "Anyone who wishes
to be the chief of their group.. be willing to be the slave."

Mithraea, Goddess of the Sun says, "Never forget, Shallam, that good
servants always have Our love. We shall always listen to those who wish
to have their say in a manner that befits address to the Gods shall have
it."

Mephaos says in a deep, earthen voice, "We are not Mhaldor, where Slaves
stroll about in mortal agony. We are defenders of Creation, and of
Good."

Lord Templar Draekar Rian, Phaestean Knight says to Mithraea, "I have
served Good my whole life and yet I feel no love or care today, I
likewise have much to think on."

Sir Avto Del-Amroth says to Mithraea, "My Lady. You said You listen to
Your people... Please do answer us, how it is not a lie to say what you
do not believe in?"

Pentharian, God of Valour says, "But remember that you serve Us, We who
are Good. If We deny what you ask, your Faith must be enough."

Lady Vivienne Concordia says to Mephaos, "Indeed we are not, we hold
hard to even stricter ideals."

Mithraea, Goddess of the Sun says, "You ask, Avto, why Silas was
commanded to render an apology even though he did not feel it. You ask
Us why We commanded him to do so."

Mithraea, Goddess of the Sun says, "But you do not ask why Silas cannot
do the simplest of tasks?"

Sir Avto Del-Amroth says, "If he finds that he was wrongly enemied, then
it is his enemy status that should be disputed."

Jovaras leaves to the north.

Mithraea, Goddess of the Sun says, "You do not ask why Silas cannot
submit himself to Our will or why he believes himself above apology,
above the law and, Avto, above We the Gods."

Sir Avto Del-Amroth says, "Not him ordered to apologize if he doesn't
believe in it."

Lorielan, the Enlightened says, "Kailo, We would speak with you."

Kailo bows respectfully to Lorielan.

Kailo says with a dwarven accent, "Yes, my Lady."

Mephaos says to Kailo in a deep, earthen voice, "Go with strength,
Father."

Kailo says to Mephaos with a dwarven accent, "You are a good son,
Mephaos."

Mephaos nods his head emphatically.

Mephaos gives Kailo a compassionate hug.

Mithraea leaves, following Lorielan.
Pentharian leaves, following Lorielan.
Kailo leaves, following Lorielan.
A forest of jade crystals surges up around Lorielan then splinters away
silently, leaving no trace of the Goddess.
