Sapience,
In light of increasingly prevalent misconceptions being posted, I offer
an academic view of Chaos from the perspective of an unquestionable
authority in the field as well as an insight into the philosophy of
Babelonian Nihilism. If you are uninterested in philosophical debate,
feel free to skip this post. If such matters intrigue you, particularly
without an overabundance of improperly proper nouns, please continue.
Before pursuing the matter of truth, let me first state the properties
of Chaos, as they differ rather significantly from what Narcissus has
posted. Chaos is, in its purest form, potentiality; it is a singularity
of possibility, where all things occur and negate themselves
simultaneously. The sheer power of this singularity can, at a distance,
encourage change and growth in ways not immediately dictated by the
gods. In large concentrations, or with direct exposure, the corrosive
force of such unmitigated power dissolves the fabric of reality.
In the beginning, Chaos and Creation were held separate. The nature of
Chaos, however, is such that limitations cannot bind it for long as
evidenced by the Unnamable's arrival. Even Ayar, the prime mover, could
not prevent it from entering Creation and the end of existence was
written in that pivotal moment. Chaos, being illimitable, cannot be
contained even by the will of Ayar, and with exposure over time, the
fabric of Creation withers and disintegrates before it. This is the root
of Oblivion's inevitability - the fundamental properties of both Chaos
and Creation. There will be no haunted existence where Thoth prowls for
souls like a vampire in the night. I dare say He would have better
things to do in any event. There will simply be a return to the primal
state of Chaos: a perfect unity with everything and nothing.
As for Truth, there is no such thing. There is no Truth inherent in
Creation, as Creation is made mutable and ultimately nothing by Chaos.
How can axioms hold true when the laws that support them are warped and
destroyed? This is not to say that truths cannot be found in aspects of
existence. Such is the beauty of Oblivion. We know that ultimately all
things are equal, and all walks of life are equally valid. We encourage
people to walk with eyes open and accept the fate of the multiverse. We
encourage people to live each day as if it were their last, for it very
well may be. Ours is not a message of despair, but of the triumph of the
mortal spirit to find hope and meaning in a world fated for extinction.
