Occultism and Devotion

Written by: Gorlasintan, Messiah of the Damned
Date: Monday, August 17th, 2009
Addressed to: The City of Shallam

It has been a long, long time since I last witnessed an Occultist and a
Paladin join together in battle, an Ashtani and Shallamese standing
shoulder to shoulder as soldiers in rank.

It would seem an era has come to an end, however. Devotionists and
Shallamese, sworn to fight Chaos at every turn, have now turned to
Occultism, in some misguided, feeble attempt to strike feebly at the
City of the Masters of Evil, and those eternally loyal to Them.

Of course, this should not come as a surprise. Shallam merely needed to
wait for the influence of Rho to slough off before returning en masse to
their asinine hypocrisies. After all, Shallam has never been known for
adhering to its own teachings once they stand on the field of battle,
turning to any and all who would fight alongside them. Known raiders of
Shallam, Occultists, none of this matters so long as Shallam can make
itself seem a competent force in the world.

Or perhaps Shallam will, for the first time in ages, hold fast to the
teachings of the Light, fallacious though they may be. If Shallam has
any in its governing body who still believe in their own ideals, Nexas,
Jaiko, Rhodd, Julius, Firey will surely have their citizenry revoked
and/or their ties to the Church and Devotion severed posthaste.

I am sure none will be taken aback by the decisions of the Prelacy or
the Caliphate.

Penned by my hand on the 7th of Valnuary, in the year 516 AF.
