Clarification, Part Two

Sir Silas Maynard,

Ah, but even the Ashtani are not exempt. Over the years the city-state
of Mhaldor has its share of Ashtani enemies, although most of them do
seem to have more animosity towards your former home than they have to
our quaint little island just west of the Northern Vashnars. Our
semi-cordial relations with the Bastion of the North are not completely
unlike your former home's relationship with the village of Eleusis and
the city-state of Cyrene. There are differences, certainly, but
similarities as well.

The Minister's article was merely a declaration of our intentions so
that the parties that we are lavishing our attentions on are not
completely bewildered as to why they have Mhaldorians spreading the
messages of Suffering and Oppression through their organisations. It may
not have been to your liking or tastes, but I suspect that we would
disagree on several matters of beliefs or tastes.

While you speak of Chaos spreading destruction across all that we
know and hold dear, it matters little to me. I will quote from one of
the documents that you should be somewhat familiar with: "What is called
evil is simply the drive for advancement, for greatness. We seek,
through discipline and pain, to spur the advancement of nothing less
than sentient life." If those that we select to educate cannot absorb
the lessons that we seek to spread and cannot change their ways, then
perhaps we all deserved to be consumed and destroyed. If we are not
strong enough to stave off the destruction of sentient life, then I
shall not mourn when it comes to claim us. We spread our lessons in
order to strengthen life as a whole, although you may disagree with our
methods and beliefs and continue to say that we do nothing.

We shall continue to touch our lessons, Sir Silas, but if the students
are unwilling to absorb our teachings or take something worthwhile from
them, then I shall not mourn the destruction of everything around us
even if what you proclaim about Chaos is true.
