My interest

Tyrannus,

My interest in this budding "conflict", beyond the opportunity to bring
further attention to the laughable appointment of Des as Mhaldor's
Minister of War, stems only from my considerations as a spectator. I
have no stake in the Order of Lord Lupus, nor do I have a vested
interest these days in the fortunes or the activities of your city or
Cyrene.

You are of course correct in noting that none are exempt from Oppression
or Suffering (except Ashtani, naturally), but Des's declaration had less
to do with teaching lessons - from a spectator's perspective - than with
the increasing Mhaldorian need to posture and flex when they become
bored. As a spectator, even moreso than when I was personally involved
in most conflicts involving Mhaldor, I am in equal parts amused and
dismayed by the continued ability of your soldiers and leaders to
imagine grievances and slights to continue to avoid challenging any of
Mhaldor's actual threats.

For you know as well as I, I should hope, that Chaos will not
distinguish between a Creation in the hands of Evil or Righteousness
when it wreaks the destruction it promises. Yet you, like Shallam,
continue to facilitate the spread of Chaos through doing nothing. For
your own convenience - to cover your own weaknesses - you bolster your
forces with those mercenaries of Oblivion in the Bastion, and strengthen
the foothold of Chaos in Creation.

Shallam is guilty of incompetence in failing to uphold its Oath;
Mhaldor's own fear, and its attempts to mask that in time-wasting wars
against hunters and seekers of peaceful retreat will be Creation's
undoing: its own undoing.

You may teach your lessons, Tyrannus, but what will they be worth when
there is nothing and nobody left to teach?

Sincerely,

Sir Silas Maynard

Penned by my hand on the 17th of Valnuary, in the year 510 AF.
