Greetings Vault Keeper,
I would like to take the chance to send a reply from a member of the
Merchants' Leading Council regarding your current issue and questions
that were left, apparently, unanswered before you.
Before I dwell into the problem at hand, I would like to reply to your
accusation that our House is nowhere near the status of an economic
power within Sapience. Remember that back in the days when I began my
life as a merchant, I too was a part of Lord Prospero's order, in an
attempt to unveil the greater secrets of success and to appease my
ever-growing lust for the shiny sovereigns. Unfortunately I was kicked
out from the Order because I dared to have a dispute with a friend of
that time's leader, who didn't even happen to be an Order member. I
thought that my merchant life was over, but much to my surprise, I
actually rised to be one of the most popular concotionists around
Sapience for a great number of years, until I left for a long journey of
exploration that took me more than 40 years of my life. And what do you
know, I was deemed "unworthy to be a Merchant" by your Order. But, alas,
I paid my respects to Lord Prospero and I became rich on my own. And I
believe He was most pleased with my progress. Look at your Order now and
look at our House. We have a shop in almost every city in Sapience, we
have yearly profits that are beyond your wildest dreams, we have a large
selection of crafters, concoctionists, forgers, runists, anything you
want. Yet you claim that we are not what we're supposed to be? I will
ask you, How many shops does your Order support, considering you serve
Lord Prospero. We held Lord Prospero in great respect and we did not
choose to change him as our Patron. It was His decision and in return He
gave us Lady Ourania, our current beloved Matron. I believe we have
shown your Lord that we truly are merchants and that we could've
continued to appease Him, should he choosed to stay with us.
Now, regarding the matter at hand. I never really understood why was
your Order so keen on removing all shrines from Hashan, along with
Cyrene, the biggest trade center in Sapience. And more specifically, why
were you so keen of removing a shrine of the Merchant Lord from the
Merchant House. We didn't desecrate it, we actually continued to feed it
with essence. I think we were doing your Order a favor and yet, you,
denied your Patron the very essence He needed. But I will not try to
dwelve further into understanding irrational reasons. I will answer your
question regarding your enemying to Hashan and to the House of
Merchants. First of all, even if that Shrine wasn't ours by right, it
was inside our House Hall. It was surrounded by our property, a property
that you or your Order does not own. No stranger is allowed to enter our
House Hall, even accompanied by a high-ranking official. Only once did
we allow one to enter, and I believe that was when we raised that
Shrine. The person that allowed you to enter was equally punished for
her foolishness and some of us still suspect that she did not fall prey
to your lies, but rather assisted you in completing this gruesome act.
Nevertheless, you were enemied for tresspassing and for destruction of
property (you admitted to have smudged some runes from the totems that
were hindering you). Usually when that happens to a House in Hashan, the
result leads to enemying to Hashan as well. I hope this clears any
suspicions you might have regarding this and you will see that our
actions are perfectly normal.
Farewell and trade well. Your fine and time to-be-served will be set
later and messaged to you.
