To Nocroth and the city of Mhaldor -
Your own claims well and truly astound me. Our aggressions against the
people of Shala-Khulia? We were aggressive merely to the Cult of the
Crimson Fang and its slaves for their careless actions against the
rainforest. We hold no ill-will toward the Khulians or the Khish of
Shala-Khulia and we even offered safe passage away from the island to
the slaves of the Cult, as they clearly have no choice in their actions.
Opposition to sentient advancement? Hardly. The Jaruvians can attest to
this. I personally helped to oversee negotiations for their work within
the forests and within the Sangre Plains during the construction of the
Ivory Tower, as well as helped to see the violence they were subjected
to put to an end. We are willing and ready to work with those who need
resources from Nature should they be willing to discuss matters with us
and treat Nature with the respect that She deserves, rather than simply
hacking and slashing away with no apparent inclination to leave anything
behind.
Some of the natives of Shala-Khulia you claim to consider full allies
have expressed their own suspicions toward the Cult of the Crimson Fang
and their activities upon the island. And again, we hold no ill-will
toward those who inhabit Shala-Khulia - only toward those who seek to
mindlessly destroy the rainforest that sustains life upon the island.
The ecosystem within a rainforest such as Shala-Khulia is intricate but
delicate. It is obvious that the actions of the Cult - which Mhaldor
protects - have not taken into consideration just how said actions will
affect the balance of Nature upon the Island.
Thus, though you claim that we, the members of the Council of Oakstone
and those who have assisted us in the past, harbour violent aggression
towards the peoples of Shala-Khulia, your accusations could not in fact
be further from the truth. The only aggression we harbour is towards
those vile members of the Crimson Fang, who would ravage the rainforest
jungles while the very earth cries out in pain. Similarly, we feel a
burning hatred towards those individuals who would protect this
malevolent cult. Given that the Council of Oakstone acts as the voice
for all of Nature, our actions in the Shala-Khulia rainforests represent
nothing less than the execution of our Divine-bestowed duties as that
voice.
All of my life, I have rolled my eyes at the grudges I have seen held
against Mhaldor by my brothers and sisters. I have encouraged those I
can to look beyond the past. I can see now that this was a mistake.
As is all of Nature, the rainforests of Shala-Khulia, as well as those
creatures which reside within them, are under the full protection of
this Council. We will not forget the intolerance and irreverence for
Nature that Mhaldor has displayed this month.
