It is better to light one candle than curse the darkness
As a Paladin and by the teaching of the Codex I am an enemy of Chaos.
And Chaos I cannot help but see as Evil. It is that which results which
is the measure of a thing or a person. Whether from their actions comes
Order or Chaos. As a Paladin my alignment has been from childhood of the
highest good. At times I would not even hunt an animal in the forest,
but only the darkest aligned creatures. I have killed no being in the
realm except in defense or in fighting against the attacks on Shallam. I
am enemied by Mhaldor for these acts. I have shown my faith and led a
life of helping others.
Yet as there is death and there is Chaos, while I forever strive against
it, I cannot overcome it. For on that day, this world will cease. If
indeed there is to be an end to Chaos, then instead of being attacked by
its Champion, why are not the brave knights standing in the streets of
Mhaldor in triumph, having vanquished its very heart and those who
follow it.
I find I cannot be anywhere else than Shallam and remain in the church,
so I have returned and though I have sought person after person, I am
told I am too old, I must get permission to join what I have fought for
all my life.
I cannot understand simply what has been said. Make this clear to me.
Are all other cities including Cyrene, and if Cyrene is indeed the one
last sanctuary for Paladins outside Shallam, then, they have made some
sort of oath against Chaos while at the same time having a treaty with
Mhaldor the center and bastion of the followers of Chaos.
So what is the answer for us Paladins who seek valor and truth and good
in the purest sense, when events do not seem to follow reason. It is
true that once Chaos is allowed into a place, it will indeed corrupt and
destroy it. Yet Mhaldor is not destroyed. Mhaldor continues to flourish,
to grow, and even to sack and plunder Shallam and take over its very
streets and send all citizens into a rush for sanctuary.
The naming of names is for those who are foolish. There lie the heads of
many a good and righteous crusader for a word spoken in haste.
Time is the solution to all matters and the good and desire of the noble
and truly seekers of all that is right, can never be truly silenced.
I have humbled myself and when given the advice to shun and leave all
that harbors Chaos in any form, I have done so. Now do not forsake one
who has given up all to follow good and leave them a vagabond to wander
without a city, without a house, without a home.
Lyhtande Riven/Shiva - from the noble blood of some of the greatest
warriors and leaders of the realms since the ancient of days and
creation of this world.

Penned by my hand on the 18th of Scarlatan, in the year 468 AF.
