Hail, Nynae.
I apologise for the lack of title. You sent me a message as Nynae,
Hierophant of Oakstone. Given its content, I am not certain whether you
are addressing me as Nynae, Hierophant, or Nynae, Leath-ri of Eleusis,
or Nynae, Lupine.
This is of course a point of note. It's interesting that my first
message from Oakstone in decades comes from the Hierophant who is also a
Leath-ri of Eleusis, a city notable for its citizenry's opposition to
Evil, and currently taking a most hostile stance towards Evil. Are you
speaking purely as a Hierophant when you communicate with me?
Your message said, "this is an official message from the Council of
Oakstone, reminding you that shrines to either of the Lords of evil are
not permissable (sic) within the forest. They are a security threat and
will not be tolerated."
I am fascinated at your stated reason. Shrines "are a security threat".
To what, exactly? Not the animals and birds of the sunny glens. Not the
trees that rustle in the breeze, nor the wind overhead or the ground
underfoot. Certainly not the curative herbs, which grow regardless of
whether there is a shrine about. And there are many shrines in the
forests, to many Divine.
Given the degraded state of relations with Eleusis over the last several
decades, I propose to you that the threat you see is to the enemies of
Evil, those who attack Mhaldor and defile shrines to Evil. There is no
threat to Nature from the presence of a shrine.
I note, in passing, that the Orders of Evil will take great exception to
sacrilege against the shrines to Oppression and Suffering. If you need a
better definition of "great exception", ask the Divine Order of the
Cataclysm. Their own shrine inventory is rather sparse of late.
Given the aforegoing, I will ask my question in public. The realm at
large deserves to see precisely whose interests Oakstone is championing.
What threat is it that Oakstone sees from these shrines?
