Knights of the Iron Citadel

Though I loathe to associate you with the former home of the Infernal
Guild, I extend my greetings to you, Knights of the Iron Citadel.

Your organization has, prior to these recent months, been no concern of
mine. Distasteful in calling its home the ruins of the Guild Hall of the
Infernals, yes, but not enough to warrant my establishing a position for
or against its formation. I state quite clearly now that I do not
believe it is impossible to find Honour within Chaos as certain
Church-aligned individuals do. Honour holds no allegiance to any
particular alignment, chaotic or otherwise. Indeed, it transcends such
by its very nature. The creation of an Ashtani legion of Knights may yet
be possible if you persist in your endeavours. Whether your efforts bear
fruition is a matter that only time may decide.

The Maldaathi House is not blind, however. We do not remain ignorant
regarding the methods of your teachings and your justification for your
foundation. Ogrebushi Lucoster, my post is addressed to you as your
words are the ones that have reached my ears beyond the background
statement given by your organization. Your teachings to, presumably,
other fledgling Knights strikes a chord within me that requires action.
I address you here as a sign of respect dictated by the precepts of
Chivalry and Honour. Do not believe for a moment, however, that the
Maldaathi are a House of words and not combat.

You speak of loyalty to Lord Sartan, Who, I note, you do not address
respectfully as such in every mention of Him. Indeed, you speak of
loyalty in general to your fellow Knights and, by extension, the city
you call home. Your organization, however, considers its foundations the
Infernals that remained within Ashtan after the dissolvement of their
Guild and the burning of the Iron Citadel.

I would not reign as the High Lady Maleficence if I did not understand
what this act truly meant to Lord Sartan and now Lord Shaitan and Lord
Apollyon. I consider any Infernal who remained within Ashtan's walls a
traitor. Your loyalties were decided then, and so they remain to me now.
You have no place serving Evil. You may not even begin to call upon my
Lords or Their former Incarnation much less swear allegiance to Them.

In a conversation with a Maldaathi, you mentioned two things: Lord
Sartan has not been Himself to you since He was imprisoned by the Divine
Alliance and Infernals were about following Honour, not Evil. The first
item is nothing more than an unwillingness to accept the fact that you
abandoned the Lord when your loyalty was tested. Lord Sartan is Who He
is. Your statement is about as foolish as the ones that claim Lord
Shaitan and Lord Apollyon are not the true Lord.

As for the second, you truly have no concept of what being an Infernal
really means. Knights are about following Honour. The Infernal Knights
were about following both Honour and Evil. You could not have been a
true Infernal and called yourself a Knight by following only one or the
other. In His own written word in Public 2162, Lord Sartan created the
Infernal Guild for one purpose and one purpose only: to further the
goals of Evil. That you would think anything less is foolish and shows
an evident lack of historical background on your part. The original
Infernals gave their unwavering loyalty to Lord Sartan. Those that
followed His departure of Ashtan demonstrated this loyalty. Only they
may proudly consider themselves the descendents of the Infernal Guild
and associate their names with Lord Sartan and the Iron Citadel.

This is my statement to you, Knights of the "Iron Citadel." Abandon your
name; its roots lie in ruins within the Bastion of the North by its very
own citizens. Abandon your association and claimed allegiance to Lord
Sartan; you have no right to do so if your person does not hold
citizenship within Their city of Mhaldor. I have no objection to your
continued existence so long as it continues under a more appropriate
name and calls upon a different Divine. Should you choose to persist
along this path, however, you will find that the Maldaathi will not
content themselves with sitting idly while this mockery exists.

In service to the Lords,
High Lady Istiria Aristata
