First, let me ask you kindly to avoid patronizingly admiring my brevity.
I know perfectly well that servants of evil do not admire, let alone the
brevity of a tired, old, mhun. I do not underestimate you, so please do
not underestimate me.

Mhaldor certainly holds no monopoly over the destruction of innocent
life, and indeed, there are cities that turn a blind eye to slaughter.
Yet this does not stop me from distinguishing those that do wrong from
those that do not. You see, in most cases and in most cities aside from
Mhaldor, individuals have freedom to act. I treat people as individuals,
no matter under flag they live. The pointed outrage at Mhaldor is
because there is no evidence whatsoever that any citizen or denizen ever
sympathizes with the consequences of the suffering they inflict.

In the words of the late Lord Deucalion, If a group or an individual is
being threatened with physical, emotional, or spiritual harm, the church
shall seek to champion them who are unable to do so themselves (assuming
the individual or group wishes such protection). If such protection is
refused or abused, the Church need no longer feel obligated to offer it.
Many villages and sentients of Sapience that explicitly have refused our
assistance for help, despite our offers and availability. We do what we
can, as efficiently as we can do it.

I consider my crusade daily, though I'd prefer to call it something
else, personally. We measure our success more carefully, in measures of
lives made better and safer. What I call personal growth, overcoming
adversity, and reaching one's fullest potential is nothing more than the
Life given by Light. What I fight is those who have no caring, sense of
justice or responsibility, or empathy for the potential in all
mortalkind to fulfill their pursuit of lasting happiness, and those that
would harm the weak. Which would happen to be, among others, you and
yours.

-Sir Brinn

PS To be truly honest, I only relunctantly participate in the discussion
in my age. My intention was to encourage it.

Penned by my hand on the 8th of Phaestian, in the year 454 AF.
