Selective Outrage?

Sir Brinn,

In these needlessly verbose times, I admire your brevity. In the spirit
of honest dialogue, kindly permit me to inquire as to the breadth of
your outrage. Though it pains me to admit it, surely you recognize that
Mhaldor holds no monopoly over the practice of hunting and destroying
innocent lives?

Indeed, a full five cities throughout Sapience endorse or permit the
practice of butchering innocent men and women for sport and profit. With
Cyrenians harvesting the corpses of Moghedu and Eleusians laying siege
to Tir Murann, however are you able to distinguish friend from foe? How
can you name the butchers if not by their butchery?

On the other hand, consider that hunting requires a wide panoply of
elixirs, salves, plants, and other accoutrements. These supplies are
generally purchased through concoctionists hailing from all six cities,
including Shallam, often with the actual or tacit understanding that
they will be put to use hunting sentient lives. Are these profiteers so
far removed from the bloodshed they enable?

In closing, I urge you to consider the futility of your crusade. What
you call Evil is simply the drive for advancement, for greatness. I
daresay the pursuit of Strength will outlive us both.

Yours very truly,

Father Herenicus Coldraven
Viceroy, Mhaldor

Penned by my hand on the 17th of Lupar, in the year 454 AF.
