Dumas,
In furtherance to your post, we had a brief conversation which I thought
I would share with the general public.
You were unable to provide the names of any Cyrenians other than
Goryllin who aid the Shallamese. You mentioned two non-entities whose
actions (if they existed at all) were so meaningless that they had not
even achieved enemy status to Mhaldor.
I also suggested that in Shallam's place, I would be frustrated to give
so much and gain so little in return. Your response, which exemplifies
the Cyrenian attitude so perfectly was "I do not care what Shallam
thinks". How true.
There were certain ironic highlights to your response that I feel
duty-bound to note. The first point was that Cyrene has aided other
cities as well as Shallam. A point I cannot believe I missed in my
original post! Yes, Cyrene does aid other cities - it does not even feel
the need to be exclusive in its alliances! How marvellous of you to make
my points for me.
And again! You are correct, of course, that Mhaldor has benefited from
the treaty with Cyrene. It has been of tremendous assistance. Mhaldor
thanks you. What Shallam thinks about this aid you have provided to
Mhaldor? Well, only they know the answer.
Please feel free to respond once more, Lorewarden, you provided valuable
back-up to my original post.
Regards,
Tenebrus.
P.S. My dear Gnaash, I will attempt to procure you such a book. In the
meantime, I am glad you acknowledge that I spoke the truth. I think we
are both agreed that it is not our place to suggest how Shallam should
deal with its humiliations. That is their responsibility. No doubt they
will wear this latest humiliation with the same good-natured fortitude
which they have borne all the others.
Penned by my hand on the 9th of Ero, in the year 450 AF.
