Dishonour

Sapience,
When I gained the privilege to serve Lord Pentharian and when I accepted
the duties of Knighthood bestowed upon me by the Guardian house, I took
oaths that my actions would be guided by a sense of honour and by
devotion to the ideals of Valour. Few mortals can hope to fulfil this
duty entirely and all my life I have never approached as close as I
might. Recently my failings have gone beyond what is acceptable fault in
a mortal, and I have acted with dishonour.
A life of battle against enemies who know no nothing of Valour has led
me to forsake my professed path, as I have engaged in practices I have
learned at their hands the unwarranted outnumbering of opponents,
carrying fights beyond the battlefield and facilitating others in doing
the same. From this point I shall endeavour to meet my enemies with the
honour and valour that I am duty bound to show. This failure can only be
mended by adherence to Righteousness.
To those who have always met me honourably in battle, should there be
good cause for us to duel, I shall not refuse your request. To those of
you who have never shown a shred of honour, you will continue to receive
none in return. You shall be hunted and killed by whatever means is
necessary, until your heads line the highways between Shallam and the
swamps from which you erupted.
I stand in shame before my Father, Lord Pentharian, before the Guardians
and before she who has tried to show me what being an Elysian means.
Sir Alban Aodh'Rian
Penned by my hand on the 10th of Lupar, in the year 448 AF.
