Totems Everywhere...

Written by: Jules Kelworan

It has long been accepted as the law of the land that a totem implanted
on land that belongs only to the Gods cannot and should not be defended
from smudging or uprooting. This prevents totems from becoming a true
nuisance, and perhaps even a menace for some, throughout the land.
Perhaps that is the reason this longstanding convention exists in the
first place. Even Swishowski, who is known to be a bit of a hothead,
uprooted his own illegal totem (after he killed me once for starting the
uproot). This totem was at North of Thera, an intersection many, many
people must cross in their daily travels. It is just the sort of totem
we are likely to see more of if the convention of not molesting those
who uproot such totems is dispensed with. It will mean that, for the
most part, only those able to raise a large bodyguard of powerful
combatants to defend the essentially defenseless totemer during the
lengthy uproot will be able to remove such totems.
