Mortal,
I'm fascinated that once again this has gone public, when I do believe
you and I were having a fine argument in the confines of just our
collective. I must then assume that this will be used again for
political gain, and I have no problem giving you more kindling to allow
the fire of rebellion to burn. However, I believe it is time we brought
quite a few things to light about the Bastion of the North and My
departure.
This is not the first time that your path and Mine have crossed, and as
the Council can attest to, you were as much a pain then as you are now.
You recklessly decided to explore My temple once before, and upon dying,
proceeded to take the matter public by dragging it into the city. Now,
while you claim that you were simply warning people about it, in
actuality you chose to call My idea idiotic and proclaim that I cared
not for the Ashtani citizenry. As a result of this, you were dealt with,
but immediately began to call for laws to be invoked and a CDF to be
penned upon Me. Erhon was annoyed for days on end by your whining, and
you continued to banter about it until you realized the issue was going
nowhere. Now, knowing once that we had issues in My temple, you again
chose to enter it by teleporting to one who was in My sanctified
section. While you claimed you didn't know you shouldn't be there, in
actuality, you had to astral after being hit by a totem and explored it
in that form so My order members could not kill you. You also decided to
teleport a few more Ashtani in, and try to purchase wares designed
strictly for My order from one of its denizens. I'm fascinated when the
Ashtani would decide to break into the temple of one of their own
divine, but I suppose it merely goes with the time. When approached
about the issue by some of My order, you claimed that divine were simply
"essence hungry mortals" and that rooms were simply rooms. You attempted
to turn the issue on anyone who confronted you with it by claiming that
your life was more important that any room. I think, mortal, you will
find a great many organizations and orders that would disagree with you
on that as there are many that have slain themselves to protect the
rooms they hold sacred. Look to the histories of the cities, at the
fortress of Mhaldor, numerous houses, and most importantly the following
of many of the deities that you simply have no respect for.
You have decided to turn this into a political struggle for power, and I
must say you play that game quite well as the "victim". You are
targeting archons who to My understanding, were fed up with your lack of
remorse. For some time now, I have strived to make Ashtan a better place
by attempt to quell some of the craziness within and ending some of the
childish behavior I have seen. When I have chosen to enforce rules upon
citizenry for stupidity, it was met with the call that the citizens have
"freedom" and can do as they wish when they want to do it. There is a
large difference between "freedom" and stupidity, and it has become
clear through the actions of a few that My place is elsewhere. Ashtan
was My home...the place where I proposed to My wife and the place where
some of My followers resided. When Ashtan decided to attack Mhaldor or
Hashan, it was My shrines and soldiers who were attacked in response,
most of whom are not even Ashtani. We never complained about this or
called for assistance, but in the end we too were turned upon as so many
of the cities allies were turned upon in recent history. I called upon
Ashtan to bolster its defenses and for all citizens to defend in raids,
and in turn it was used as a call to attack others and their icons. When
those of My order who call Mhaldor home turned up to defend their icons,
I was once again penned as a traitor as I did not order My soldiers to
stand down in defending their property to an Ashtani attack. I have
dedicated My life to protecting Ashtan's resources, but in the end the
complaints that many have laid against the Bastion turned on Me in the
end.
To you, mortal, I wish you luck in your unquenchable desire for power
that has driven you to show little to no respect for any divine. I have
already heard from My members about the block voting that is occurring
to remove Archons, and the lies that are being spread about the
situation. To those in Ashtan who have remained vigilant, your overseer
knows My support still lies with the city, but officially I will not be
a part of it. Ashtan once stood for great things...chaos, unity,
power...but that has all been lost by the mantle of freedom that has
cast its dark shadow upon the citizenry. The time has come for you to
turn the corner and refocus on those things that once made you great, or
allow factions to rise who will simply drag you further down the path of
no return. Freedom should not be taken away, but perhaps you should
define it one day as the term has lost meaning at this point.
