Lord Aegis,

After much debate and pondering I have come to draft this scroll. It
was not easy to get to this point I assure you. There has been much
heartbreak, betrayal, and anger exchanged during this process.

I would, however, like to apologize formally to you. It was wrong of
me to trespass within your temple without permission. You, being a
citizen of Ashtan at the time, took offense to my actions and saw
fit to quit Ashtan and kill me. I did not mean to offend you and I
assure you that I did not even consider you would react in such a
way. I do feel, however, that you should have given me proper time
to apologize. I was never approached for an apology, was never aware
that you were offended. I was only made aware that you took offense
when you quit Ashtan.

Now, our opinions differ greatly in terms of sanctity and respect. I
do realize that respect and sanctity are subjective and we will never
fully agree. I feel that, at times, it is impossible to adhere to
everyone's notion of respect and it was never made clear to me what
lines you drew. In my honest opinion, you and I could have handled
the situation better. However, I am not in your head, thus I could
never have predicted your reactions. If one assumes the worse and
lives in fear then he never gets anywhere. I would have quickly made
amends were you to have stayed within the city and condemend my
actions. I broke no law, but I do not like offending citizens. You
felt content to quit the Bastion and kill me, Lord, and this is why
this apology is so late.

But, I must regress and think about Ashtan. Had you still been a
citizen I would have apologized, and now I feel compelled to do so.
I am sorry, Lord, now that the matter is clear to me I feel that I
have wronged you and paid dearly with my essence.

Was Ashtan stronger with you as her citizen? Yes.
Do many in Ashtan pine for you back? Yes.

However, I fear that you must admit that quitting Ashtan was very
harmful to the city. I do not fully trust one that will quit a
city instead of stand at her side and try to mend the issue, but
we all feel betrayed now and then. I have wronged you and in turn
upset Ashtan's citizens and I am sorry for that. But you, Lord,
with your actions have also caused much turmoil within her walls.

We cannot all agree, but we can all try to live together.
Ashtan will never reach a consensus on all topics but we must
put aside our differences in order to do what is best for the
city.
