Misunderstanding, I think, and stubbornness.

I don't need patronizing remarks about how stupid I am. I don't need to
be told that I'm a careless moron who damaged nature. Here are the
facts, as they are:
* I entered a room that I didn't realize until after I destroyed it was
a garden, and let loose a holocaust globe to kill some enemies.
* As soon as I realized what I did I got the room rejuvenated with the
help of a non-Oakstone-affiliated druid, and my own commodity, and had I
chosen, Oakstone would never have KNOWN I was the one who did it.
* I contacted Alakardaiel and Vinceres to inform them that I had harmed
nature. I'll take an enemying, and a fine. I feel I deserve both.
* I refuse to pay the fine, as assigned, because it's the same that
would have been applied were I to have been flying over the Ithmia and
dropped a bomb over a random grove, and left the mess for only the
forestrals to clean up. I want a punishment that fits my crime. I
wronged the forest and will gladly pay a FAIR fine. However, rigid
Oakstone law, as Conor stated, allows only for one punishment for any
infraction. His, as well, should be lessened.
Perhaps a person with obvious inclinations towards serving nature should
be given slightly preferential treatment on a first, minor offense?
After all, I have died fighting Northreach forestfires before, as well
as being killed by Cain once when he was raiding Eleusis in an attempt
to help. Obviously, not the action of one who cares little about the
forests. Perhaps half the fine for such a first offense if the person
has a record of standing for the forests? As for the overharvesting
thing, why not fine per plant? 3-5 thousand sovereigns for each below
ten sounds about fair. Up it for repeat offendors. Likewise for
extermination/holocausting/inferno.
Everyone criticizes Hashan's complex law system, but at least there
you're assured a punishment that fits your crime.
That's all I'm asking. Not just for myself, but for everyone else.
Oakstone, stop lording over people. I'll sooner live without herbs than
besmudge my name by paying a fine that I didn't earn. I earned a fine.
Not this one.
