And Accipiter, and every grove user

Just to point out, Iliana, the forestals do not consider a grove as
belonging to someone, nor do the Divine. It is, rather, property of
interest. Meaning Accipiter -can- harvest there, the herbs belong to no
one, but it is still a severe breach of etiquette. Moreover, saying
she'll harvest from any grove she pleases -does- give the forestals an
interesting method for keeping her out of the forests.
See, with the PK laws as they are, properties of interest may be
defended against whomever the -individual- wishes, so long as the person
in question has been alerted to the fact. Meaning forestals are free to
enemy Accipiter as they please, the only requirement being that they
alert her first. Accipiter, if entering a grove then, can be attacked by
that groves defenses, and that grove's owner (no one else), and all she
gains is right to defense (and let's be honest, it's hard to defend
oneself in a grove). She gains no cause, as she has trespassed on
property of interest.
What's especially interesting about this, is that she has no real method
of recourse. She could appeal to Oakstone, but wait...they all hate her.
She could appeal to Eleusis, but wait...they all hate her. She could
appeal to the forestal houses...oh, wait, no she can't, they don't find
her particularly appealing themselves. She could appeal to the Divine,
but I suspect that as clearly as she's shown herself to be against the
forests, how uncivilly she has acted towards -every- grove owner, in
saying she'll be harvesting their groves now, permission or not,
werll...I don't see the Divine helping her too much either (though of
course, there is no certainty there).
So really, Accipiter, while you've acted as though no one can respond to
you harvesting in their groves, you're a wee bit mistaken, they can. And
there's nothing you can effectively do in response, except try and patch
up your reputation with the forestals, should they so choose to exercise
that option. Isn't this fun?
