Care to bet?

Jago, when someone hires a mark, then yes, the actions that that mark
take -on the person the contract is taken out on- are as if they were
made by the person who hired the mark. However, any actions against
other people are the mark's responsibility (otherwise, if I hired you on
Bob, but you attacked Fred, I'd be responsible, which is nonsense).

Really, like I said, all it means is be sure to find out whether a
contract is legal or not before you accept it, and if it's illegal,
recognize that you can not attack an assister. It's not exactly brain
surgery, and heaven -forbid- that a mark has to be slightly
conscientious, and work within the confines of the PK laws.

As such, if you attack someone who assists someone you have a contract
on, you can not safely attack them unless you know whether the contract
is based on legal cause or not. They are not attacking you, they are not
a threat to you, all they are doing is helping assist someone who is
being illegally attacked, which means you have no cause on them, and if
you choose to attack -them-, then -you- are responsible for any
repurcussions it may bring.

And, just to add this, I got a MSG from a mark member (who'll remain
nameless since they've not given me permission to use their name) over
just this instance, basically saying that, yes, it is true, they lost
issues in the past over it, but since it wasn't well-known, they still
were able to collect PKs on the people in question. I'm just trying to
ensure that everyone is informed and knows their options. It helps mark,
because they won't find themselves being issued for something they were
ignorant of, and it helps non-mark, because they won't find themselves
being attacked as often illegally, and when they are, will be able to
call for assistance without fear for the assister's life. Isn't that
just peachy?

Penned by my hand on the 24th of Chronos, in the year 395 AF.
