History Repeats Itself?

Greetings,
So, no idea how this little tidbit stuck in my foggy brain, but, I
rememebered something about funky water occuring well before my time.
Something I discovered in my often rambling research. Thought you all
might find it interesting....
From Severian Marcella, Notes: Various
Chief Grolmar Lightning-Hand, Lord Baron of Moghedu:
The black rock that carries Sarapis' immortal watery moss is the exact
same type of rock that made up the ornamentation of that ceremonial
statue you gifted us with! I make apology for the informality of this
letter, but this is a very exciting discovery: by growing the amar moss
on your unique obsidian, we can solve the water problems of both our
communities. Please send an emissary with a quantity of that rock, and
we will send him back with as much of the moss as we can grow on it.
Yours in Friendship and Hope,
Duke Severian Marcella, Right Hand of the Emperor
So... I had a buddy of mine show me to the Great Mhunna. I queried him a
bit, but, he was rather unresponsive. Seems that he's not much of a
conversationalist. Hmm... then again, neither am I. So, maybe he just
didn't want to talk with me.
Anyways, I asked him where I might find some obsidian in his Halls,
pleaded for his help, blah, blah, blah. No success. I hear there's
miners down there. Mebee someone can crack this puzzle, I find myself
too lazy, or busy to do so.
Oh, and has anyone tried eating our irid moss as a cure for plaguey
pooh?
I'm sure this has all been tried 50 different ways. So, it'll come as no
surprise when people tell me to shut my fat hole. Meh, carry on.
