Knighthood

It has been some time since I have been away from the Paladins and so it
may be a bit outdated for me to still hold to this, but it has always
been my belief that knighthood is an ideal. The knight guilds,
honourable as they may be, do not hold the market on that ideal.

It is not a subject that I think of lightly. My wife is a Paladin. She
is a firm believer in that ideal, in that code of honour. Yet, were she
not a Paladin...were she just a rogue what would that change exactly?
Would she still be the same woman? Would she still possess the same code
of honour inside her? Or would she lose that simply by quitting her
guild? If you believe that an ideal resides only within the bylaws of a
guild you are pitifully short-sighted.

Thieves you said. Stealing a title you said. Congratulations. You have
succeeded in taking one of the noblest codes and reduced to mere
suffixes and prefixes. I am sure that any knight will tell you that it
is not the "Sir" or "Lady" tacked onto a name that makes a knight.
Otherwise, what have they worked for? Three letters? Four? Just who ARE
you to stand in judgement of who has earned the right to wear the title?
I have seen monks who possess every much heart as many knights put
together! Tell me the difference. What is it that separates a knight
from the average man or woman? You seem to have the answers. Why don't
you enlighten the rest of the world so that we may benefit from your
wisdom and counsel.
