El'Jazira

Greetings, Latus.

While I am under no obligation to provide an explanation for my
declaration concerning el'Jazira, I suspect that perhaps you neither
fully understand my reasoning, nor the method I chose to employ. If you,
being a man that I respect for his intellectual and cognitive
capabilities, suffer from a lack of understanding, then I would venture
to say that there are many more that also do not possess an adequate
grasp of my intent. I pray the message contained herein will adequately
address this apparent confusion. I do not wish for any to be under the
misapprehension that I arbitrarily select locations from a map to call
our own.

You say it came as a surprise that the world at large chose to ignore my
words. I cannot share the same opinion for two distinct reasons: the
first would be that I received many personal responses from those
outside of Mhaldor expressing varied thoughts and opinions it may
surprise you to note that the vast majority inwardly supported my words.
The second would be that until the armies of Vertan acted to defend the
village of el'Jazira, inhabitants of Sapience paid little attention to
this minute community of desert slavers. They have little traffic
outside of their village for anything other than supplies of leather,
and due to their remote location in the center of the Mhojave Desert, do
not make a habit of involving themselves with the broader scope of
worldwide affairs. However, I can assure you that Sheik Abd el'Salam has
not ignored the proclamation of dominion by the City of Evil. I extended
the people of el'Jazira the courtesy of a period of time to arrive at a
collective response, one that would determine Mhaldors actions in future
dealings with the el'Jazirans. I am a patient man. Should they choose to
acquiesce and accept their fate, so then let it be done. Should they
choose to refuse and attempt to defend themselves against the City of
Evil once again, even without the aid of the Vertani, so then let it be
done.

You say that you slaughtered the inhabitants of el'Jazira, just as I
had. If this is so, then I offer you my congratulations. The fact that
you exterminated an entire village simply to test the veracity of my
words shows that you have done a great deal to free yourself of the
teachings of your former home in the City of Light. Doubtless the
Archprelate and Sultaness are horrified at your callous behaviour. You
also inquire as to whether your ability to commit these foul acts with
such ease reflects upon the strength of Mhaldor. Why you make this
correlation, I am uncertain. Perhaps during your slaughter you wished to
see armed Mhaldorian guards rushing to the aid of the villagers? The
time for such action has not yet been reached. The el'Jazirans have not
yet formulated their response, and I have not yet brought the period for
their decision-making to a close, though that time draws nigh. You also
remark that you saw no evidence of Mhaldor within the boundaries of
el'Jazira. Mayhap you expected to see Mhaldorian citizens actively
crushing the el'Jazirans into submission beyond their defeat on the
field of battle? Nay, let us not be hasty. There I believe you may be
correct. When I consider that possibility, it strikes me as an excellent
idea.

Harken to me, villagers of el'Jazira. When the soldiers of Mhaldor
patrol your village to torture your children, violate your women and
slaughter your guards, recall in your abject misery that you may extend
your undying gratitude to Latus, my esteemed associate, for his poignant
observations.

Do not presume to speak for the villagers of el'Jazira, Latus. They are
capable of acting in their own best interests without your interference.

Respectfully,

Khoraji,
Tyrannus of Mhaldor
