Simoln,
Yes, we are aware that the Paladin guild exists to be the combatants of
the Church. We are also aware that the Church is not Shallam. Solar
speaks for Shallam, and while we may have similar ideals, she is not
even a member of the Church. In fact, many Shallamese are not Church
members.
As far as the Paladins go, you can be assured that if any of my
guildmembers kill a Mhaldorian "Because they were Mhaldorian", they will
answer to me and I will not be happy. Yes, we fight Evil, this is true.
However, we do not enemy every Mhaldorian to the Guild or Church. The
only people who are slain actively are those who steal and kill. I've
seen a growing number of people convert to Good, not because we killed
them too much, but because they saw that the life they were leading was
not what they wanted.
You say we are closed minded. I would tend to disagree. I for one have
read Sartans "truths" and thought about if they could apply to me. For
some reason, it seems that subjugating other people to make myself feel
more powerful just doesn't make me feel better. Perhaps its because I
can look at the situation from both sides, and see that having pain
inflicted upon me is not really the most happy of experiances.
I'm not sure how many Mhaldorians have tried helping people and caring
for those who cannot help themselves. I can't guarantee that they'll
like it, but it certainly won't actually hurt them. I'm rather sure our
opposing sides are quite different, and your attempt to make us some
sort of copy of Mhaldor doesn't really work.
