Hingar, what I am about to tell you shall not be at all popular with
many of my peers, the citizens or the guild I am a part of, I am one
that doesn't need popularity so I can speak my mind freely.
You have stated to us if we do not like what our cities do or some of
its citizens then we can leave that city or we are accepting and are a
part of the actions other citizens take. This, at least with Ashtan, is
totally untrue. To leave a city because you do not like its or some of
its actions takes away your voice against such actions. It is not the
true way of the Ashtan citizens to just run away just because they do
not agree with some or even all of the other citizens. That perhaps is
the Vertan way, I do not know.
You have indeed seen through allot, read between the lines of many of
our citizens. The attack you did on Thera and its destruction is of
little concern to most, except as a tool of attack on you. Most didn't
care about Thera or its citizens before it was destroyed, some however
did and even did not like their fellow citizens use of them. Those
people you probably would say should have left Ashtan, but again that is
not our way and leaving Ashtan would have given them no voice to sway
others.
So far everything you have said rings true and as I have found in my own
disagreements with fellow citizens and non-citizens alike, truth about
someone else is seldom liked, indeed the truth giver becomes hated by
many. This that I am writing shall probably have me hated by some of my
own fellow citizens, but that worries me not for I shall speak what I
think if hated or loved.
then again I do not truly trust anyone fully, including those I hold
dear. I would like to be able to visit you and your people to learn from
them and them from others and me that would wish the same, as fellow
explorers and students such as yourself. This however can not be done as
long as you continue to hold all Ashtan citizens as enemies, I ask you
now if it is possible for you to convince those above you to understand
and enemy those who you feel may harm you only. Permit those like myself
to come and learn from you and your people, not as friends or enemies
but as fellow explorers.
I do not know if what you say about yourself is true or false Hingar. I
will not make that judgment so hastily as others have done. I have
however gained allot of respect for you and what you have said. You are
indeed well thought out, precise, and intelligent. Keeping your emotions
in check most of the time even under strenuous circumstances must be
admired.
Mordyval
P.S. Please respond here if you will on your thoughts, especialy on the
proposal I have set forth.
