Hingar, you are most correct, I do not seem to be receiving the answers
I'm looking for from your replies. I take responsibility for that, and I
ask your patience as I attempt to convey a final time what it is I'm
trying to discover. It seems to me that the replies you made to my
initial question, 'why did you remain in the face of the risks' had two
answers, and please correct me if I am wrong.
1. You came here to explore.
2. You do not run from danger.
I am not including the fact of Tasur'ke and El'Jazira being your
friends, allies, and members of your empire, for that did not occur
until later.
I am trying to understand your initial motivation for coming and
remaining, as I believe this understanding of motive is the key to
better understanding between our people. Now it seems you have answered
my question in those two parts, but still I am confused.
My confusion stems from the fact that neither of those reasons seem to
me sufficient explanation for your remaining in a land where (judging
from your first few experiences) there was the risk of death for your
people. You seem to me to be more or less reasonable, so I can't imagine
that you or your overlord Estan would risk the lives of your own people
simply for the purpose of exploration, or for a show of bravado for the
benefit of people you did not yet know.
It seems to me that there had to be some further motivation that made
you decide that remining here was worth the risk of a few of your lives.
I wish to know what that was, in an attempt to better understand your
presence here and to help us all come to an acceptable resolve. You say
that you will not leave now because a part of your empire is here and
you would not abandon them. That is honorable and worthy reason to stay
but it still does not explain to me why you did not leave in the first
place.
Were you just here to explore, as you say, or were you intending to stay
all along, no matter the risks? Was it your intention to expand your
empire into our land from the moment you arrived? If that is the truth,
then by all means, let us have the truth.
Once again, I ask your patience in answering my questions. If you still
feel that you've already made this clear to me, then please, for my
sake, take a moment and repeat your points in a manner that will address
my questions directly. I understand you do not like the feeling that you
are repeating yourself, but in the face of all that's happened, if the
effort to gain clarity helps us all to better understand each other, is
it not worth it to try?
Awaiting your response with hope and sincerity,
Oenone Atreide
