Genocide

I have neither the time nor the temper to make this long.
Genocide: a systematic killing of a race or cultural group.
Have, in your lifetime, Kotori, high and mightiest of them all, ANY
races or peoples died out because of the hunting of adventurers?
You have forgotten one thing about the people of Sapience. There are
hundreds of them. Thousands of them. In fact, only a small percentage of
them are actual adventurers. The others carry normal lives with mundane
jobs. It's only the few and the slightly insane that actually go out and
kill other sentient races. After all, don't we all need to be a little
insane to feel guilt about killing another being? Even IF that 'other
being' was a dwarf from Black Rock, a filthy Harpy, a little boy from
Tasur'ke, or an old woman from Shastaan?
SOMEHOW though, only the people who have claimed the lives of those that
aren't green-skinned, or fanged are brought under the light of
judgement. What do you call killing all the deer in the forest, Kotori?
What do you consider when a shining clad paladin rides into a Goblin
village and kills all the denizens therein? Does that not fall under the
same 'genocide' that us 'evil and immoral' cities perform as well? Oh
dear, oh dear. Looks like none of us are perfect.
The Difference between Thera's destruction and a few killed innocents
here or there, is that with Genji, or Moghedu... the people come back.
What of Thera? With only a woodcutter, and - according to Certimene -
four children... I'd imagine that the culture of Thera IS in fact, gone.
Forever.
Kotori, THAT is how this is different. People, by will of the Logos,
come back. Within two or three days, in fact. But... oh dear oh me oh
my... Thera is still a smouldering crater! People are still holding
candlelight vigils at the center. What on Sapience has happened to the
LOGIC and ORDER that our people are supposed to come back?

Penned by my hand on the 8th of Daedalan, in the year 386 AF.
