Sapience,

Today a dark deed was committed and thrust upon us all. The Vertan
Magelords under the guidance of their recently promoted Overlord called
down a meteor and decimated the village of Thera, leveling the majority
of the buildings and leaving us to assume the worst in regards to the
lives of the villagers. The Vertan claimed that this was in retaliation
for the betrayal of trust they extended to us, attempting to place blame
upon Ashtan and Mhaldor for this based on events that took place during
their summit. Those present at the summit know the truth of the matter,
that the Vertani were the aggressors and that we merely responded in
kind. Then in an act of total cowardice, they brought down this verdict
upon those that were Ashtans allies, rather than to attack us ourselves.
Hingar in his hubris claims we deserved this slap on the wrist, treating
the loss as if it were trivial, like some child that had their candy
taken from them. This act was an affront to all sentient life in
sapience and an attempt to cow us into submission. I pray that we do not
let it go unpunished.

To those Therans that survived this atrocity, Ashtan is offering shelter
and anything else you may need in these trying times. Also when time
allows, we will help rebuild the village, as well as erect a memorial to
those that were lost. None should forget the memory of those people that
lived here, proud that they were the birthplace of the most influential
man in Sapeinces history.

On a personal matter, Ariel, I will miss you. I pray that whatever comes
of this, you can look back on us and have no regrets.
