Greetings Sapience,
I write the post with the gold taken from a dead Vertani maggot
who thought the glorious city of Ashtan would be an easy target. At
this very moment his remains rest at the bottom of a Humgii's gut,
too vile and worthless to be used as an offering to my God.
After the battle I thought back on what has happened and something
came to me. Their mages drain the water from living things during
combat and this is proof.
"A strange gleam in her eyes, a House Tsez water mage stares intently
at you and clenches her fists. You feel suddenly parched, your throat
dry, as the life-giving water within your very cells is drawn out by
a powerful magic."
This made me think, after I put a boot to his head. Why are the
Vertani building aqueducts? Why did the plants wilt around the
glowing portal? All this leads to one element, water.
I don't know what this means and I shall continue to meditate on
this information, but I figured I'd share it. Perhaps they come for
water.. or perhaps they fear it and wish to control it, allying with
a desert race of fellow slavers. Maybe.. jsut maybe... we should
march to the gates of their fortress and bury it under a flood.
