my thought on Good and Evil

My dear Achaeans, and especially those of my brethren, and those of
Mhaldor:

At first I rather thought this topic was cut and dry. I thought I knew
my feelings on Good and Evil and thier apparent purpose and place. After
seeing several different viewpoints on the subject, I have a new
thought.

It's been said that Evil's goal is self-advancement, and further stated
that this self-advancement is also indirectly beneficial to one's other
allies, be it city, guild, etcetera. It's also been said that Good is an
effort to help all life, not just oneself, and that it is the opposite,
an unselfish desire.

I see however, an overlapping of these ideals. As such, I would propose
something perhaps unique. Something perhaps even crazy to some.

What if.. just what if.. the truth was somewhere in between?

What if those who helped each other to be better and actively
accomplished Good, while those who strove for self advancement and
actively accomplished Evil actually could work together and thus
accomplished the same goals, without squabbling over the name of the
result? Through supposedly opposing method and purpose, what if we all
worked together and all got what we wanted, instead of killing each
other over the labels of our beliefs?
I can almost imagine a day where a Maldaathi and Paladin work hand in
hand to defeat a greater foe together.. a day when both Priest and
Apostate help to bring faith and self-confidence to a poor lost soul. A
day when both Mhaldorians and Shallamese realize that through differing
means, they both want only the same thing.. the glory and prosperity of
our homes, and of our people. If the individual is strengthened while
the whole group prospers, then both ends are achieved, and everyone
wins.

Perhaps I am a madman and this vision is merely heresy of some sort. My
heart tells me however, that perhaps I've touched upon something we
should all consider, no matter where we're from. Perhaps one day we can
all work together, to have everything we all want. Perhaps I and those I
love will see that day, and perhaps you all will share it with me.

No matter the outcome, I pray we may all continue to honourably and
respectfully share our views with each other, in hope that we all attain
our goals, hopefully without hindering each other's efforts.

Sincerely,
Valiant Eryk Everflow-Winterhart
