I just need to point out a loophole that -no one- in Shallam likes to
acknowledge.

I was present the very day that our then-Tyrannus Watchman brought down
the law that Shallamites were no longer welcome to set foot in Mhaldor.
He verbalized on our city channel then put it into law. We heard-- "Oh
he's provacating, he thinks that'll make us mad!!" However true it -may-
be on some levels it's far from the root of the truth.

Your city at the time, (I haven't been there in some years so I am
unsure as to it's state right now but I speak for about 30 years ago)
your city had scattered totems around against Mhaldorians within the
city. That's purely within your right, sure. But --those totems were
hitting novices. Young children leaving the magical embrace of Loom
Island with nothing but a backpack, a mutton and flagon of mead
wandering your streets to slay your rats and negotiate their sale with
your Crazy Hakhim to be able to buy healing tools---were finding
themselves paralyzed and unable to cure themselves (as most novices
are). Many of them panicked and ran to the safety of the magical portals
by uttering a single word placing their paralyzed body into a place
where only other novices could go. After this happened a few times we
the leadership of Mhaldor approached more than a few of your leaders
asking for the totems to be adjusted. We were scoffed at, insulted and
ignored--which is pretty much on par for what happens when we try to
negotiate something Shallamese. After a dozen or so cases of paralyzed
novices, we finally brought down the law we all know and love. Shallam
is not welcome in Mhaldor and the Church is not welcome in Mhaldor.

I can understand, back then, during a time of prosperity and peace,
simply wanting to keep enemies out of your 'fine' city. But purposely
leaving totems to attack the young is less than chivalrous and far from
"GOOD" and then turning around to say, "Oh look at those terrible
Mhaldorians just shutting down to ALL Shallamese whether I did anything
to them or not!!" as if we're just trying to provoke you is immature.
Take responsibility for something, anything, Shallam. You brought that
on yourself, however you feel about it.

Would that be asking too much? ... likely.

Penned by my hand on the 12th of Glacian, in the year 372 AF.
