The Impermanence of Life and Love

I am completely terrified of opening myself up to anyone. Can you blame
me? As you journey through life you form relationships with people,
which eventually change over time. You may keep in touch, or they may
drift away into obscurity.
The nature of every relationship is inherently flawed. People are not
perfect. Yet we enter into relationships with one another knowing this,
and knowing that one day you will probably not be with that person. To
open yourself up to someone completely, only to be betrayed or hurt by
that person.. this happens all the time, to nearly everyone. Why do we
do it? To be hurt, only to begin the same agonizing process again.
To find meaning in the present and strive for a better future is all we
can hope for. We are but fools, searching for answers that will never be
revealed to us.
Penned by my hand on the 8th of Phaestian, in the year 372 AF.
