"They run around the city, picking up anything and everything on the
ground, and generally make [grammar edit] nuisances of themselves."
Now, certainly orphans are not the only ones in your city that generally
make nuisances of themselves. I'm certain there are others, even those
with occupations in one of your guilds, that often do nothing more than
walk around the city, talking, playing, and perhaps even play-fighting.
Would you have those individuals in Ashtan serve a higher purpose? Would
you like to take out their pineal glands too?
I thought the beauty of Ashtan was in the fact that an individual can
choose to live his life how he sees fit. Even if that lifestyle includes
living off of the leftovers of others, in the case of orphans. What gave
you the right to decide that somehow, there was a higher purpose they
should serve? What gave anyone the right to infringe on the freedom of
your orphans?
Please, I ask you. Why are orphans in Ashtan second class citizens in
Ashtan that are to be deemed somehow insignificant? Why are they less
important than the average wide-eyed stumbling warlock, occultist,
shadowsnake, or ashuran novice?
