Noktal,

In response to your previous post:

You asked, "Why do not the Shallamese protect all the innocents of
Sapience if they are protecting Jaru for solely that reason?"
We're working on it. If we start by trying to protect every innocent in
Sapience, we'd be spreading our forces far too thin, so we're starting
with the closest village.

Your next question was "Why, also, do they slaughter other innocents
because they are percieved as "evil" by a choice few?"
I only hope that the Divine don't punish you too harshly for this
question.. would you consider Them to be a "select few?" Because it was
Lord Sarapis, obviously, who created Good and Evil in the first place,
He obviously decided and still decides today what is Good and what is
Evil.

I quote you again:
"Case in point is Maim de Vermiis. She is slaughtered regularly by
Shallam and/or the Church. Why is this? What ill act has she performed
against you? what travesty has she committed that has violated your very
well-being? None, I say! She is a lonely aging woman whose one wish in
life is to have the loving companionship of her dear newphew Patrick.
Why would you deny such an honorable request? It is because you have a
biased opinion on who should recieve justice and punishment? Who is good
and evil? I think so and it occurs to me that you should rethink your
world views before you go barging into "protecting the innocent" as you
slaughter others."
You ask what travesty has she committed that has violated your very
well-being?
She has committed the travesty of murdering Agnes Mooch in cold blood,
something that no Shallamese can stand by and let happen if they have a
chance to prevent.
You ask, "Why would you deny such an honorable request?"
Hah! honorable? You call killing an innocent, and raising the dead for
the sake of an experiment "honorable?" No, she doesn't want Patrick's
company, she wants to know that she can raise the dead.
Again you made a suggestion, "it occurs to me that you should rethink
your world views before you go barging into "protecting the innocent" as
you slaughter others."
We don't consider Maim de Vermiis, the cold-blooded murderer and raiser
of the dead to be innocent, i'm sorry to say. We slay those that would
harm others with no purpose in mind except their own gain, or some other
unjust cause. Now, i know someone's going to respond and say that then
we should kill all the Shallamese that bash, because they bash for their
own gain. Well, i can say, as a basher, that yes, i bash partly for the
experience and gold that it yields, but mostly for the feeling of
self-satisfaction that i get at the end of the day, knowing that i have
rid the world of so many evil beings.

Sincerely,
-Tommy a'Bertal

P.S. This post, again, was written by me as an individual, and though i
sometimes wrote "we" in reference to Shallamese citizens, that's simply
out of habit. You can respond to me personally or over the boards, but
i'm not going to post again on this unless something terribly urgent
comes up.
P.P.S. If this offended anyone, then please take it up with me
personally. No offense was intended to anyone, and i apologize if
someone has a problem with what i've written
