As I was browsing through the news posts recently I read Diamondesce's
writings about war as that seems to be the topic of the day. One thing
in particular struck me as very sad though. I quote from her words:

"But I must say, your consistent and free donations of XP, Essence to
the Lords (Jhui alone offered right at 1million points of essence to
Evil and Death last month since his corpse is worth over 350k or so
essence each time.) gold and herbs you drop and the all around good time
you provide is much much appreciated. It breaks the boredom between
taunting you and the sleeping and eating that life
requires."

Judging from that statement and the brief conversation I had with
another Mhaldorian whose sole purpose in life is to kill just because
they could, and no he wasn't a follower of Lord Thoth, it seems as if
boredom is the common lot of the people of Mhaldor. This seems a bit
unsettling. If all there is to do in Mhaldor is taunt, sleep, eat and
fight then it looks as if Mhaldor has some sort of inherent lethargy.

If boredom is that much of a problem then perhaps the people of Mhaldor
ought to reconsider the path that they have chosen and find out if there
isn't a more productive way of life to pursue. One that would perhaps
bring about a more lasting sense of satisfaction.
