Greetings Sapience,

Public boards are rarely used for anything besides bickering between two
or more opposing parties, hurling insults, random ramblings, and so on
and so forth. Not that these types of things are not informative, okay
well they tend just to be alot of reading for no general purpose, but
people need hobbies! -sagenod-

Now you may be asking why I am posting, the reason is to dispell the
misconceptions of my guild, the Jesters. Alot of you only know the
general rumors, boastings, and what your Jester friends tell you (Have
YOU hugged a Jester today?)

1) That ALL Jesters lack intelligence levels higher than mud. Actually
SOME of us are quite verbose, and DO actually know a thing or two. A
Jester is MEANT to be silly, dorky, ridiculous, funny, and entertaining,
that does NOT mean that we have to be dumbasses to do so. (However, I do
not intend to speak for the Jesters of lesser intelligence, I am sure
they know who they are -smirk-)

2) That our guild is pretty much useless because of the in-guild
turmoil. (The bout with Caryn, the raids, etc etc etc, you get my point
I am sure) Here is a fact, our guild is not what it used to be, things
have grown and changed and GMs have been replaced. We are still trying
to be what Silvestri himself envisioned and knew the Jester spirit to
be. We still have ALOT of work to do, but our aim is to make progress,
no matter how small it may be.

3) That we don't know jack about fighting. This I can honestly say is
partly true, a majority of us do not know how to fight/spar/etc. But
other than basic defense and offense why should we care about fighting?
The Jesters are not warriors, nor should they ever try to achieve it.
Our powers lie in the actions and words that we use, a good joke or
riddle can make your forget why you were upset (LAUGHTER is the BEST
medicine!), a perfectly mimed scene can bring a smirk or applause from
an unwilling audience, a funny, ridiculous shout/yell can encourage a
whole bunch of people to reply...the list could go on forever. Now, I
know that some of you grumpy people are going to say, but you have
fighters! Yes, we do, it is a personal choice, but it is NOT what our
guild is based on. Plus, our skills kick arse and are fun!

4) That the Bards are better than us. (NEVER!!!) I will grant you that
Ralph
(-violates Ralph- heeee!) used to be a damn fine Jester and several of
their secretaries were also Jesters upon a time. While we share several
attributes, the fact is that the Bards are new and exciting, the
popularity will prolly die down in awhile. Our guilds are UNIQUE and
should be treated as such.

5) That our RP sucks big hairy monkey balls. This is simply NOT true. We
are doing what we know best which is being are fun-loving, dorky,
totally ridiculous selves. That is WHAT Jesters are! We do not do things
because they are popular, we do them because they are fun. (Unless you
are talking about the less intelligent Jesters who end up hurting
people, in which case that is just being a runt, it has nothing to do
with being Jesterly) Some of us have done things that are considered OOC
to have a laugh or two, but it never did any harm.

6) That we are pacifists. Not all of us are not pacifists, we are
NEUTRAL. We remain neutral because Mischief, Chaos, Laughter, and Fun,
do not choose sides. Whether you be evil or goody-goody, Mhaldorian or
Shallamese, Occultist or Priest...mischief and chaos will always find
you. We allow are full members to join a city with the understanding
that despite their alignment or city, they are ALWAYS Jesters first and
foremost. I do not think it right to believe that words can not solve
conflicts, just as easily as violence, I grant you it takes longer and
more effort but what have you got to lose? Plus, violence tends to be
bloody and blood ruins a perfect good outfit which cost you an arm and a
leg in the first place.

So, yea, now I feel better. Rambling is good for the soul. And a totally
unrelated note, Logosmas bunnies! Do NOT be fooled by the little red hat
between their adorable floppy ears! They are evil!!!!!!!!!!! As soon as
you approach them, they gnaw on your ankles with their highly poisonous
FANGS! It was the most traumatic experience of my life, I swear on all
that is Chaos.

Wait a minute, what was I talking about? Ohhhh yea, the Jesters. Just to
recap, most of us are intelligent beings who know how to have fun and
where the closest bar is, and while we dont tend to be fighters our
skills kick arse. Oh! And Logosmas bunnies are evil creatures who will
take advantage of your punk arse for thinking that they are harmless.
