"I don't know about Oakstone being weird, but they are unique in the
sense that they have divine sponsorship that cities do not. "
Cities do have the same Divine sponsorship as Oakstone is enjoying.
Cities too can enemy those they wish to enemy, without having to even
state a reason for doing so. Most cities try to not abuse their power in
enemying, since lack of reason in this area can negatively reflect on
the city itself in the long run. I would sleep much better had I known
that
Oakstone exhibits the same maturity for same reason, and not because
it just feels like it. It is quite obvious to me, Sir Epich, that you
yourself
are not completely convinced of Oakstone's rationale in this matter, as
is revealed in the following part of your post:
"Fortunately.... the current hierophants are noble men and women and
hold true to their maxim of enemying only for attacks against Nature."
I applaud the current hierophants for their high standards of conduct,
but quite frankly, I do not consider that sufficient to ensure the
safety
of cities from what new maxims the future hierophants migh have. To
clarify the point of my post: I don't like to see the woods burning,
because I enjoy cheap bloodroot, but nor do I like the image of the
woods slowly pushing their way onto every square mile of Sapience,
thrusted forward with armed threats from Oakstone members. Why do I
not like the latter? Because I don't live in the woods and don't care to
live in them.
With utmost respect,
Keldar.
