I traveled the forests and cities and shore
And love I was not looking for
And vowed to never find therefore
A beau who'd cast his spell.

And you, the same, you took that oath
Relationships that you did loath
And shared with me that vow, us both
You and I, rebelled.

But Eros works his magic, yes
And I found feelings unsupressed
And though denial I obsessed
My heart did grow and swell.

How beautiful when you gave in
To find you had the same within
And life as one we did begin
With fifty years to tell!

Enriched each other's lives aglow
Invested ourselves and our ego
Love greater than anyone would ever know
A family, all perfect, all well.

But something came and slowly reaped
the precious gift that we did keep
A poison known to hurt us deep
And in us both it dwelled.

You nor I did want this here
Why THESE souls did it adhere!
And tears of sorrow so severe
We are helpless to its hell.

And though our love does still remain
You I cannot, here, obtain
And you could not live through the pain
My conscious did impel.

And though this seems a bitter end
Together we can still transcend
And broken hurts we will amend
Though love we're forced to quell.

And now I know you won't return
We move on now and live and learn
The ideal marriage must adjourn
And I bid you, Love...farewell.

Penned by my hand on the 17th of Glacian, in the year 348 AF.
