For the glory of Lord Sartan, and the wisdom to be found in His words.
The following text is a sermon that I gave before assembled Mhaldorians
at Stygian Crossroads on the 3rd of Mayan, 344 AF.
I have been given permission to post by Lord Watchman Dhenuka, the
Tyrannus of Mhaldor, and Father Afflicted Aristata, the Messiah of the
Damned of the Apostates.
I hope that this will further your religious education, and broaden your
knowledge of Evil.
Hail, Mhaldorians.
Hearken to my words.
Today I will sermonize upon the Seven Truths of Lord Sartan, the
Malevolent, as first revealed by Him in public news post 2095.
His truths guide our actions and our thoughts. They show us the way to
strength, to knowledge, through humble service to Lord Sartan.
Lord Sartan's first Truth defines Evil itself: "What is called evil is
simply the drive for advancement, for greatness. We seek, through
discipline and pain, to spur the advancement of nothing less than
sentient life."
Evil, as Lord Sartan tells us, is simply the will to advance and
succeed. This drive is present in all living beings. Everybody, from the
leaders of Mhaldor down to the lowest church member in Shallam, has the
seeds of Evil within them. We in Mhaldor are the few who admit our lust
for greatness, and have come to the realization that the way to
realizing our own strength is by humble service to Lord Sartan. Those
who follow the accursed Alliance, those heresiarch gods that that stood
against our Lord, have chosen the path of weakness and degradation.
Their folly, if realized, will lead to the ruination of Sapience.
Lord Sartan's second Truth concerns cruelty: "Cruelty - the application
of pain - is the method by which one weeds out the weak and
feeble-minded from the population."
Cruelty is our tool, Lord Sartan instructs us. It is the method by which
we can improve Sapient society. We inflict agonizing pain, and
soul-rending torment. By inflicting suffering, we can differentiate, by
their reactions, those who are weak from those who are strong. We can
then scourge the weak from our midst, by slaying them and offering their
bodies to Lord Sartan, or enslaving them to work for the glory of
Mhaldor, Lord Sartan's city.
The third Truth of our Lord Sartan specifies: "Weakness must be
eliminated in all its forms: Physical, Mental, and Spiritual."
Lord Sartan specifies the tripartite path to eliminating weakness. It is
not enough to devastate the physically defective. We must take care that
we also desolate the mentally infirm. Above all, we must annihilate the
spiritually debased, those who deny Lord Sartan's Truths and His
Covenant. They are the most foul, the heretics, those who would drag
Sapience down into the filth of weakness.
Lord Sartan's fourth Truth concerns the enemies of Mhaldor; the enemies
of every follower of our Lord: "The enemies of strength are those who
trumpet the effeminate values of forgiveness, tolerance, and laxity of
discipline."
Here we see the path away from greatness, away from Evil, most clearly
defined. It is by indulging in the weaker emotions, those promulgated by
the heresiarch gods of the Alliance. Our enemies are those who, instead
of purging weakness, seek to forgive it and allow it to fester
unchecked. Those who are opposed to Lord Sartan's divine will tolerate
all manner of unconscionable acts. They are opposed to the strict
hierarchy of the strong ruling over the weak, preferring to let
indisciplined weakness win the day. Lord Sartan's fourth Truth clearly
warns us against His enemies, that we do not succumb to their
corruption, lest we should lose our ability to serve Him.
Our Lord, may His name resound across Sapience, does not end His Truths
there. Lord Sartan provides us with the guidance we of Mhaldor need to
achieve strength and greatness, in humble service to Him.
His fifth Truth states that "The body may be made stronger through
combat."
These are the first steps upon Lord Sartan's tripartite path to
strength, that is the other facet of His path to eliminating weakness
from Sapience. In short, we fight. We spar with each other in the
arenas. We sally forth from Mhaldor to slaughter the denizens of
Moghedu. In dozens of different ways, we test our prowess, honing and
perfecting our abilities as soldiers for Lord Sartan. In this we fulfill
the demands of His Covenant in the Apocrypha, Chapter Five, Verse Eight:
"One man of you shall chase a thousand: for the LORD, he it is that
fighteth for you, as he hath promised you." By seeking stronger bodies
and combat skills, we serve not only our own advancement, but our Lord's
vision of His conquest of Sapience.
The sixth Truth instructs us: "The mind may be made stronger through the
elimination of conscience. One does this by inflicting pain on others."
As Lord Sartan commands, it is not enough to strengthen our bodies. We
must strengthen our minds, and eliminate any vestige of weak thoughts
and emotions. A conscience is the sign of a weak mind, an intellect
infirm in its knowledge of Lord Sartan's Truths. Lord Sartan bids us to
eliminate our consciences in a manner befitting His Truths: By
inflicting agonizing, horrific pain on others. We thus free ourselves
from the constraints of conventional Sapient morality, and achieve an
intellectual fortitude unmatched across the world.
Lord Sartan's seventh Truth is the final segment on the path to
strength: "The spirit may be made stronger by enduring hardships, both
self-imposed and externally-imposed."
Who among us here can not say that we have endured hardships in service
to our Lord? We have suffered torment, at the hands of our enemies, and
at the hands of our superiors in Mhaldor. As Novices we toil for the
glory of our guilds. As citizens of Mhaldor, we work for the glory of
our Lord. As citizens we defend Mhaldor against invaders and enemies. As
we strive against the obstacles in our path, we grow stronger in our
faith in Him. We begin to seek out hardships, that we can strengthen
ourselves.
Above our bodies, beyond our minds, it is our spirits that make us
strong. The body will not harden without force of will behind it. Our
minds will not sharpen without force of will. Our spirits fuel our
wills, and our spirits are strengthened by our faith in Lord Sartan, and
His designs upon Sapience. We undergo these trials that we can serve Him
in all things, body and soul.
Lord Sartan has shown us the way to strength, to power. Through Him we
shall achieve greatness. Let us all give praise and thanks to Lord
Sartan for all His works.
For the greater glory of Lord Sartan, and His designs upon the world.
