Morkael has made a number of good points.. "The law", when applied in
such a brutal and, dare I say, mindless manner, leads to problems. If
you cannot operate within the heart of the laws, and not merely their
words, then as a governing body you are a failure. If you cannot look at
the intent and factor that into your judgements, then as a governing
body you are a failure.

Any group that possesses judicial power should not hide behind "the law"
as an excuse for its rulings. After all, the rules throughout the land,
from Mhaldor to Shallam and beyond, are based around the people and
their morals. To declare summary judgement on the grounds of "Well it's
the law and I'm just a servant" is nothing short of sheer idiocy.

Silverfox is a most excellent concoctionist, and this entire situation
is an affront to his good character. This incident is, sadly, merely
further proof that Oakstone is merely a mindless entity enforcing "the
law" without any concern for that upon which "the law" is based..
