A lesson on populace control

If you give your underlings something to hate, it draws their attention
away from yourself and onto an outside force. It stops them looking
closely at the problems suffered at home, as they are to pre-occupied
with brooding over the destruction of their 'most hated enemy' abroad.
What's even better is if their 'most hated enemies' are the same as your
own, because then you have a willing army at your disposal, all to
willing to stumble along behind you, ignorant, blissfully happy and
totally blind to anything other than /your/ opinion.

We in Mhaldor have no arguments with this method of control. We
understand that many, many individuals in these lands utilise this
technique on their underlings constantly. This method is a way of life
in the heady hights of world politics.

One individual that is renowned for this almost totalitarian method of
leadership . . . is Covenant, but there are many more just like him,
hidden away with in the lofty eaves of Forestall Society. Mhaldor is one
of the chains they keep the saplings tied to their trees with.

And now the forests feel pain. The balance is threatened.

It really gives me great amusement, to look at the world plod so happily
along behind them. Most seem to baleve their lies, based solely on their
preference to Nature over Evil, despite the fact that this time, those
carving the path are wrong. Leaving many left trailing in their wake,
dancing obediently over flames.

They abuse the power that is invested in them, they abuse the /trust/
invested in them, to pursue their own selfish dreams and aspirations.
This abuse has caused the imbalance we currently see.
