I don't know how long this will be, but I will try to keep is as
succinct as possible. I just feel I have some thoughts to put down.
1) There is a difference between the ideals of Good and Evil and
subjective *good* and *bad*. The two cannot be equated - Good and Evil
are static constants assigned to some acts due to their creative or
destructive (respectively) nature. Good and bad are subjective
judgements of actions. BAD corresponds to Evil only in judgement.
2) One religion is no better than the other. I believe we all have a
Reason to live, and that is PLEASURE. Not the carnal kind of pleasure,
but a sort of a Joy of Life. Different people have different ways of
attaining this Joy. Some fight, some kill, some study, some steal, some
help the needy...whatever blows their hair back. Religion is an
idealization of one's particular way to achieve the Joy of Life. It is
merely a generalization of a person character - are all Chaoites the
same? Are all Twilighters? Are all Churchies? No. They are not. In the
end, religion is irrelevant, it only matters how the person LIVES their
religion.
3) Gods are anthropomorphic manifestations of Forms (like, Evil, Good,
Darkness, etc). They manifest their particular form to Perfection. Are
they perfect? Hmm. Perfection, in layman's terms, means the most ideal
representation of something. As such, Gods are perfect representations
of the Form they manifest - Twilight IS Darkness, Sartan IS Evil, etc.
Are they perfect in EVERYTHING they do? Of course not! They are perfect
insofar as representing their realm. Things must always be judged in
proper frames of reference - judging actions of Twilight, for example,
on a scale of goodness and claiming he is not perfect, is like measuring
weight in miles and complaining about results!
4) If my silly mortal mind comprehends the nature of the Divine to some
degree (which of course may not be the case, since I am only using my
silly mortal common sense), they are bound by the perfect representation
of their realm - Sartan will not enroll kids into the choir, and
Pentharian won't start slaughtering Shastaan women randomely, because it
is simply not in their NATURE to do so. This is where we, mortals come
in...
5) The most precious gift of life is choice. Your morality, nomatter
what the self-promoting demagogues may declare, is your sense of the
Self, and your adherence to it. Morality is not bad, good, profitable,
etc - it merely IS. It is YOU, your choices, your will, your joy of
life. Look within with honesty - lying to oneself is needless. Find
you...and live it. There is only but 1 sin in our mortal life, and that
is *living in bad faith*, or living false to oneself. Always...always be
aware of your Self, choose with it, and live it fully. You CAN do it.
That is the gift of mortals.
