Free Will

Do the Gods truly have free will? We mortals choose our paths, but do
the Gods have the same choice?

Even the most devoted priests, and the most dedicated Maldaathi, every
moment of their lives have the choice of doing things that are Evil,
Good, Orderly, Chaotic, or anything else that is possible. It is which
of these possible things we *choose* to do that makes us who and what we
are.

If, however, in a purely hypothetical instance, Sartan woke up one
morning (assuming, for the moment, that Gods sleep) and wanted to do
something that was Good, would He be able to? Is Sartan even capable of
desiring Good? Or Pentharian, Unrighteousness? Or Daedalus, Imbalance?
Or Eris, Order? (or, rather, lack of Chaos; She has said before that
Chaos embraces Order) And if Sartan has no choice but to do things that
are Evil (or Pentharian things that are Righteous, or Demeter things
that are natural, et cetera, depending on what you happen to be opposed
to), can He really be condemned for it? Or, if Good has no choice but to
hate Evil, and Evil to hate Good, do they have any choice but to condemn
one another anyway?

It is true that the Gods are much greater and more powerful than
mortals, but in some ways, are mortals freer?

Just a bit of contemplation! Please don't shrub me,
~*Teravell
