The Church

After being overwhealmed by the power that Mhaldor has shown against
nearly all of Sapience, the Church is left without a means of Devotion.

Several rites were held immediately after Sarapin, for only in large
groups of worship, can they draw on the Devotion they need to do their
skills. I know of three at least.. Untill One rite, a rather large one,
was disrupted. Many wanted to even kill the one who disrupted the rite,
as he was asked repetedly to leave, and did not. When one monk grew
desperate enough to try and thrust kick him out, it was to late. Dawn
had passed.

It was after this rite, when the angry mob was shouting about the
injustice, that the Church actually opened their eyes to reality for the
first time in centuries. They realized that the Populace as a whole, did
not attend their rites to Worship the Church and its God. They came to
the Rites for their own personal growth

The church saw this, and was deeply hurt, for they were not as idolized
as they believed themselves to be. Well! They would show Sapience! If
they wanted to just use the rites without giving proper respect and
homage where it was due, then they would show them a thing or two!

And so, the Church closed its eyes again, and cut off its nose to spite
its face. Large rites were forbidden, denying Sapience of their free
growth spurts, and denying the church itself of Devotion, in this time
where they rely heavily on Sapience for the devotion.

What will happen, Oh Great Church, when Sartan wins landmarking again
next Sarapin? What will happen when you move into the second year with
no Devotion? Will you open your eyes again?

If everyone Landmarked for Sartan next Sarapin, the Church would be
forced to see. They would realize just how much they rely on the rest of
sapience when they grow to lazy or careless to fight for Devotion.

And just think of all the Rites they would finally be required to do
just to keep their Devotion up so they could defend themselves against
the many attacks on their city..

Thoughtfully,
Seraph Lena
