To Cyrene

Dear Cyrene,

There seems to be a strange affliction that is spreading across
the face of Sapience. This affliction takes the form of various
guilds, cities, orders and even Dieties deciding that they should
be able to dictate to you whom you should permit as citizens
and whom you should have as your patron.

The affliction seems to have started with the Maldaathi guild's
unhappiness that shouting disrespectful things about Gods besides
Sartan actually earned them some consequences. Although they
seem to be very fond of dishing out consequences for the tiniest
verbal slight against their own patron, apparently they do not like
it when the actual diety they insulted responds to their disrespect.
Instead of being humbled by the destruction of their city's forge
and the wrath of Lord Phaestus, they chose to destroy His shrines,
demand that He be removed as patron of your city, and for some
reason developed what probably isn't a very healthy fixation
on the concept of breasts.

The Warlocks leapt into the fray after what seems to be an unfortunate
miscommunication in an attempt to aid you, and they at least only
seem intent on an apology and deciding who should serve in your
Senate, so perhaps they are only slightly afflicted. The incident
involving the Warlocks infected the Aegeans. Not only do they want
an apology, they are insisting that you reform your city policy
to permit Aegeans as citizens and guild members. The Aegean's
affliction seems to have infected the Lady Eris, who has demanded
that your city permit both followers of Chaos and War among your
citizenry and guilds. Now Darkness seems to have caught the bug
as well.

I do not know where this will stop, but speaking as the Sultaness
of Shallam I will say this: Shallam will stand by you, Cyrene. We
urge you not to cave in to the demands being placed upon you by
these afflicted organizations, and we will help defend you from
their attacks. Our proverbial and literal swords, humble as they
are, are yours dear Cyrene.

I can only hope that this affliction which seems to have infected
so many is curable, that some clarity is restored to the
minds of the afflicted parties, and that they cease these
attacks upon your city. Until such time as that hope becomes
a reality, Cyrene, you can count on Shallam's support.

With utmost sincerity,
