Dearest Iliana,

I debated several times about the different theories of your post, the
combination of the Chrysalis Basilica and the comparison of Shallam in
the same statement..However, I decided that the best course of action
would be to let you know, so you aren't quite so confused, the facts
behind your theories.

As to the regards of the totems, they're actually tuned against
city-enemies. Is it true that at one time this was different? Yes. Would
I be happy to see them still tuned against Erisians, Twilighters, and
Sartanites? Yes.

After all, if you are infact so called 'repenting' for the crimes
against Sapience, why would you still be following one of the Three
Gods/Goddesses whose followers are openly opposed by The Church?

It is infact, common knowledge that the members of the Holy Church swear
to never join the Orders of those Gods and Goddess, and that they seek
ways to eliminate Chaos, destroy Evil, and prevent Darkness. (Striving
for Order, Good, and Light does have that effect..)

One last comment on the Basilica, would be that it is infact our
guildhall. We choose to allow access to those whom we welcome, because
we appreciate the good in those people. We have the right to prevent any
whom we do not desire entrance out just as other Guildhalls lock their
Guilds, for the same purpose.

Now..onto Shallam's Laws regarding the Chaos Entities.

Shallam has similar ideals to the Church, and infact is patroned by the
same Divinity. Shallam's patrons in the past have all been on the same
side of the Good spectrum. (Justice, Light, Righteousness, etc.) It is
because of these ideals, that Chaos entities are forbidden. Not for fear
of a threat, but the fact that chaos threatens existance as we mortals
know it, and thus Shallam has in her past, set laws which prevent the
City of Light from becoming tainted by those energies.

This is also why no one with the skills of Necromancy or Domination
would be allowed citizenship, as it goes against the ethos of the city.

Your comparison to a sentinel's 'entities' left out one vital part. The
animals that a sentinel asks to aide him or her, are just that. Animals.
Natural beings of existance. Chaos entities are not.

Blessed be,
