A statement about poetry

Poetry, in my opinion, is not simply placing words in a pattern, making
them rhyme and playing with them. Oh, sure, it can be that, and is often
used as such. However, it doesn't have to be -just- that.

Poetry is also beauty of words, using parts of language to paint a
picture or tell a story. The additional benefit of rhyming shows the
poet's ability and prowess. Yet, some poets and fans of poetry find
poems that follow an unrhymed scheme, or 'blank verse', much more
appealing than those that rhyme.

What it all comes down to, is your opinion. Whether you are the poet, or
the reader, your preference makes the poem what it is in your eyes.

As to my point in all this rambling (and yes, Caleth, I've made yet
another speech *grin*), I submit the following not as a poem of
standard, but as a piece of art that takes after poetry: forming words
with talent, into beauty. One thing I leave you with. Beauty is all to
preference as well.

Penned by my hand on the 4th of Miraman, in the year 288 AF.
