Cruel, Thoughtless, Cyclical Things

What if I told you my soul was cruel?
And what if I told you there was nothing you could do?
Just waiting for someone to let me break them
Simply sacrifice their sanity to be what I need

What if I told you I wasn't for you?
And what if I told you there was nothing you could do?
'Cause there's nothing there when I look to the past
To say the least, I knew I couldn't fix it all.

What if I told you my body was making its own rules?
And what if I told you there was nothing you could do?
'Cause I'm not there at all when I look in the mirror
These days I can't stop 'til I've already broken the line

What if I told you my spirit exists just to spite me?
And what if I said it was all because of you?
Just waiting for someone to help this self meet all demises
Though it would take too much of our precious time.

What if I told you I never thought it out?
That I never really had a thought about a single thing?
I try to follow the feelings people tell me about
I'll fall back into habit, submit another self-fink.

What if I told you I only came back to hurt us both?
And what if I told you that wasn't quite how I planned it?
And I just wanted to feel something
So you held me close, but I didn't feel a thing.

The way you and I-- it didn't quite please me.
'Cause I knew when I saw my chance, I'd take it;
Take the chance to leave the life I could never lead.
Why wait for things to change when I couldn't?
I knew none of it would fix a thing.

These memories twist day by day, repeat, change, and lead astray.
I'd beg and welcome it, but this new self will never come- or go- my way.
'Stead I knock back these faded labels,
Let every one of these things fade away.

Hard to be yourself when there is none.
Maybe one day, all of this will change.
